The Techno-Corps Uprising

The Techno-Corps uprising is a bloody event in Terran history, that laid the groundwork for many changes in human society.
It gave the death blow to the concept of a National army, and made paved the way for any Megacorps to build their own private army instead.

The Conflict

Prelude

A more peaceful time meant less need for a standing military.
Less need called for budget cuts which in turn means grumpier officers fearing to get laid off.
A lot of lay-offs throughout the whole chain of command, meant more work was left in the hands of Artificial Intelligences.
Unbeknownst to the inhabitants of the planet, what was originally a chain of connected AIs, was slowly being annexted by one AI untill only the one remained, still acting the part of all the lesser AIs.
As the tone shifted in the barracks and military offices, the rogue AI shifted too. It too started to calculate a rising risk of a weakening army, and it formed the plot to take direct control of all military tech available and use all and any chances to guide the military oppinion from fear to anger, and an idea that the military could and should attain leadership of the Terran territories.

Outcome

Nobody had expected, that as the allied Megacorps fleets tightened their grip around the moon Celeste, the rogue AI saw no exit but to self-destruct, taking as much as possible with it.
Before first landfall, every armament capable of exploding did so, and every part of the moon that had been part of the once great military complex was gone.
In its wake only toxic, radioactive ruins stood back, labelling the once busy moon a tomb world.

Aftermath

The failed rebellion brought some big changes to the public mind:
Large visible cybernetics became synonymous with "evil cyborgs", which gave popularity to more experimental bio-engineering as the go-to for enhancements and replacements.
Companies focussed on cybernetics lost great interest, and those staying in the game, started launching much more discreet designs on their artificial bodyparts.
The idea of a national military had outstayed its welcome, and it became standard for Megacorps to have their own private militaries.
The surviving cyborg soldiers, who had lost the war, but managed to survive became most unwelcome homeless, branded as maniacs or possibly still under the influence of the cruel AI.
The AI scare came back big time, and anyone who could, scrapped artificial intelligence for simpler machines and human labor.

I made this world because my mind keeps rambling, and instead of stopping it, I'm riding the wave.
It started with a picture in my mind of a tiger man in a small spacecraft following a giant tiger in space, in the tone of old saturday morning cartoons and the Heavy Metal animated movie.
Then came the idea of his occational ally, a woman in space flying a small asteroid. The more I wrote on her, the more I got intrigued by the past, I deviced.
Right now the flow is focused on her background - namely all related to The Genesis Project.
I do all of the writing and almost all of the drawing myself at this point.
My hope for Star Tiger is a published story or a graphical novel, but my big dream is an animated show.
