Revan
"Savior, conqueror, hero, villain. You are all these things, Revan... and yet you are nothing. In the end, you belong to neither the light nor the darkness. You will forever stand alone."
True Name Unknown
Revan—renown as the Revanchist, honored as the Revan, venerated as the Barsen’thor of the Jedi Order, reviled as Revan the Butcher, dreaded as the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Revan, hunted as the rogue Jedi Revan, praised as the Prodigal Knight, and later canonized as Revan the Sword-Saint, was a Human male who played pivotal roles as both Jedi and Sith in the Mandalorian Wars, Jakartan Rebellion, Yinchorri Rebellion, Yuuzhan Vong War, and Great Hyperspace War.
Believed to have been born to unknown parents on the planet of Serenno about the year 57 BZS, the man later known as Revan was found by the Jedi Order at an early age and became apprenticed to the Jedi Master Rugess Nome. It was during this time that he met Mith'raw'nuruodo, who would become a second mentor to him. Several years into his apprenticeship, a sickness known as the Dark Plague struck the Jedi Order, driving Jedi Master across the galaxy insane. Learning an ancient Force ability called the ‘shielding technique’ from the Noetikon devices, the young Padawan eventually located the plague master himself, Lord Vivicar, who was possessed by the spirit of the plague’s long-dead creator Terrak Morrhage. The Padawan defeated Lord Vivicar aboard his ship and successfully redeemed him, driving out Morrhage’s spirit and restoring Vivicar’s persona of Jedi Padawan Parkanas Tark. Defeating Vivicar was the accomplishment that earned the Jedi the title of Jedi Knight, and Barsen’thor.
The young Knight first entered military service two years later, serving as one of the Chiss Ascendancy’s most valued generals in their short-lived campaign against the Republic. As a first-time soldier, Revan struck down the rebel Enduromai in a series of decisive victories, cementing his reputation as a fearsome frontline warrior. Although the Chiss would eventually lose the war, the Knight learned much about military strategy under the tutelage of his longtime mentor Mitth’raw’nuruodo, one of the Ascendancy's most brilliant generals, as well as proved himself capable of routing entire legions while surviving blows what would have killed lesser men. Among both allies and enemies, he quickly gained a reputation as a formidable warrior and frontline general while also earning the moniker Revan —a play on “revanite,” for his apparent inability to be killed. After the war, Revan served in the administration of the ecumenopolis Taris Jedi Temple, where he played crucial roles in solving the murder of Kai Zaiden, uncovering the Jedi WatchCircle, and defeating the rogue Jedi Masters.
Some time during and after the WatchCircle affair, Revan became a vocal and charismatic critic of the Order’s inactivity in the ongoing Mandalorian Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders. When the Jedi refused to respond to the massacre of the Cathar people, the Knight considered that to be the tipping point. In open defiance of the Jedi Council, the Knight started the Revanchist movement to combat the Mandalorian threat as a General, and the first ever Jedi Cruader. Revan and his forces gradually pushed back the Mandalorians, saving countless worlds at the price of devastating moral compromises and the embrace of dark-side practices. The conflict climaxed over Malachor V, where Revan defeated the Mandalorian leader Mandalore the Ultimate in single-combat and ordered the activation of the Mass Shadow Generator superweapon, destroying both the Mandalorian fleet and the planet and forcing the remaining Mandalorians to sue for peace.
Now hailed as the greatest of heroes, Revan added to his legacy with convincing wins over the nascent rebellions of the Jakartan Confederacy and Yinchorri in 36 BZS and 33 BZS, respectively. In the years following, Revan met and married the love of his life Avery Williams, as well as encountering for the first time the Cult of M'dweshuu on Yamatai, sparking a long recondite war whose machinations would underlie the rest of his life. He also brought the infamous Tevinter slave empire to its knees, killing King Atai Molec and forcing Queen Myrrah to flee the galaxy. In 29 BZS, Revan and Avery had the first child, Kali, but she was abducted as an infant and taken away to the neighboring galaxy of Andromeda. In 24 BZS, the couple had twin daughters, Jaina and Kirana.
Nearly two decades later, Revan found himself on the front lines once more during the Yuuzhan Vong War, an invasion by the extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong species. Revan endured countless battles as the Republic was pushed back, including the fall of his home on Coruscant and the death of Avery. However, the newly reformed government, under the new leadership of Leontyne Saresh, regrouped and helped push back the alien invaders, with the Republic decisively turning the tide during Operation Riposte. In the final stages of the war, Revan defeated the Yuuzhan Vong Warmaster Tsavong Lah on Coruscant before leading the Republic and its allies in a final attack on the Vong homeworld of Zonama Sekot, in which Revan led the assault on Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane's citadel and slew Jamaane, as well as the true master of the Yuuzhan Vong, Onimi. Coupled with the surrender of Warmaster Nas Choka's armada to Satele and Bastila Shan's forces days later, the Yuuzhan Vong were defeated and the war ended.
In the aftermath of the most destructive war the galaxy had ever seen, and in an attempt to stave off anarchy in a chaotic galaxy, Revan attended Saresh during a widely controversial Unity Tour that many saw as a thinly veiled annexation. Although many praised Revan’s actions, some, including the reconstituted High Council, saw Revan and Saresh as populist dictators in the making and conspired to undermine their actions. Tensions between Revanite loyalists and dissenters came to a head when Revan was summoned to faced judgement by the Jedi High Council for war crimes, and for violating the Jedi Code. In the ensuing trial, Revan shocked the Council with his brazen confidence in his righteousness and indifference towards the dark side’s corruption, and exiled himself before the trial could reach a vote.
Revan, no longer a Jedi Master, embarked on an odyssey with his two daughters and a retinue of friends in order to discover the origins of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. In the neighboring galaxy of Andromeda, they discovered the hidden Empire of the Covenant, as well as the Lost Tribe of the Sith and their deity, the malevolent dark side entity known as Abeloth. With the help of his daughters, the rest of the Jedi, and new Chancellor Momaw Nadon, Revan returned to his position as Master of the Order. Revan and his allies then repelled the Sith threat, and with the help of Kali, Empress of the Covenant and Revan's long-lost daughter, released and defeated Abeloth, preventing another disaster that could endanger the galaxy.
Eventually, Revan passed away, and became one with the Force.
Biography
"Revan was all over him. The shining amethyst lightsaber whirled and spat and every overhand chop crashed against Mandalore's defense with the unstoppable power of a meteor strike; the Mandalorian leader spent lavishly of his reserve of strength merely to meet these attacks without being cut in half, and Revan -- Revan was getting stronger."Physical Description
Special abilities
"Revan was power. It was like staring into the heart of the Force."
Grand Master Zym
A Jedi Master of prodigious skill and power, Revan was the most powerful Force-user of his era, and arguably of all time. As a Jedi, Grand Master Zym likened witnessing his power to “staring into the heart of the Force,” and as a Sith, Darth Malgus perceived him as a “black hole of the dark side.” Likewise, both Theia and Sidious had viewed Revan as having become the Force’s purest and most powerful expression. His mastery allowed himself to open up to both sides of the Force simultaneously, summoning such power that he could then unleash the Force in its purest form. However, despite his prodigy, Revan struggled to use the Force during his initiate years. Vrook Lamar called him “undisciplined” and “mediocre” in the Force while Vandar Tokare described him as an “average student of the Force,” though Kavar stated he always possessed a “rare” yet “unmistakably strong” connection to the Force as a Padawan. It was believed by Masters Zez-Kai Ell, Kavar, and Vrook Lamar that his latent Force-sensitivity was because of a wound in the Force that surrounded him, which allowed him—like Darth Nihilus—to feed on the death of other life forms to sustain his Force powers. This wound was only brought to light after the Battle of Malachor V, and was what originally blocked his connection to the Force. While Revan traveled the galaxy, killing thousands throughout the course of his various wars, he unconsciously fed on all that death, fueling his powers. It was Malachor V’s cataclysmic loss of life in such a small time that fully unlocked his powers It was this, paired with his unparalleled power within the Jedi and the Republic, that caused the Masters such fear—both at his trial and afterwards—as they thought his condition to be not one a threat to the Jedi and the Force, but a threat to life itself.
Along with his established Force defenses and willpower, Revan had immense pain tolerance. His resistance to torment made even the infamous Saul Karath believe that torturing him would be pointless, surprising the Mandalorian chief Jorak Uln. While in prison, Revan used the Force to block out the pain and drugs induced by Karath, pushing physical human capabilities to the limit. This resistance to pain and torture served him well during his exile in Andromeda; through the years, Revan became masterful at focusing his pain and agony, using it to fuel the dark side and recover from grievous wounds almost instantly. He would often channel the Force to fuel the dark side, relying on the circular nature of power and pain to literally hold his shattered body together, with the Skyriver medical staff concluding his body should be pulling itself apart—so damaged was his physical shell. In combat, Revan was capable of enduring a wealth of combat injuries that would have killed lesser men without faltering, granting him an eerie and often ominous semblance of immortality. At least twice, he was stabbed straight through the chest and hardly reacted. On Yavin IV, even after being bested by two coalition forces, the Dark Lord managed to rise again, ready to continue the battle.
Meridian contained a treasure-trove of Sith artifacts and techniques that Revan studied throughout his life, experimenting with the dark side and discovering many lost techniques that increased his power even more. Revan learned to use the Force to slow the minds and bodies of his targets and replenish his energies by feeding on them. His mastery of Force drain was passed on to his Order’s Jedi Shadows, and eventually Bane. Revan also learned how to unleash storms of Force lightning, conceal his darkness from the Jedi, drain knowledge from the minds of the Rakata, and develop the infamous thought bomb. He was also a master of Dark Healing, which he used to kill dozens of Sith Assassins instantaneously and simultaneously on Malachor V. He obliterated the last three members of the reconvened Jedi Council by showing them the Force “through the eyes of the Exile,” consuming their connection to the Force in a way similar to that of Darth Nihilus, denying them the means to become one with the Force. Later, he showed the rare ability to teleport, using it to escape the Foundry and navigate around the battlefield of Yavin IV.
Revan was also extremely adept in telekinesis and defensive techniques; during his battle with Supreme Overlord Jamaane, he levitated several Senate pods simultaneously, including the one he was standing on, with incredible dexterity and precision—even while engaging the Vong in heated combat. He could conjure force barriers easily strong enough to block T3-M4’s flamethrower and even strong lightsaber blows from Darth Malgus. One of Revan’s favorite tactics during duels was using Force Throw to pull apart objects in his environment and fling them at his opponents. Revan first used this technique during his duel on Taris with the Jedi Masters of the First WatchCircle, slicing shards of metal from the walls and shooting them at his opponents, as well as picking up the chairs and hurling them. After becoming a Sith Lord, Darth Revan used this tactic to bring down Roan Shryne on New Haven, ripping apart the wooden platforms in their battleground and flinging waves of debris at the general. His effectiveness with this technique was further bolstered by the fact that he was capable of telekinetically gripping and hurling objects without the need to utilize the “throwing” motion that nearly all Force-sensitives used. During his fight with Mandalore the Ultimate, he surprised the warlord by telekinetically throwing a box at his head while maintaining a two-handed bladelock. Additionally, when applying this technique against Roan Shryne, Revan simply stood in one place with his arms folded against his chest.
However, despite his formidable skill with many other aspects of the Force, Force lightning was arguably his trademark ability, as it was the only skill he continuously practiced throughout his entire Force-journey. He was incredibly skilled in Force lightning and was known to use it both as a lethal attack and a way of torturing his enemies. one that served him well against extremely dangerous opponents many times, resulting in either their defeat or near-defeat. He first utilized the ability during his duel with the Tarisian Jedi Masters, and although Draay was able to contain the display with little effort, a loss of focus on his part allowed the considerably weaker Revan to temporarily stun and incapacitate him. He continued to hone this skill throughout his travels, directly against the wishes of the Jedi Council, and in several years his proficiency had grown to the point that when cornered by Jaric Kaden, Revan viciously attacked him with lightning that not only nearly overwhelmed Kaden but also nearly caused Kaden’s saber to bend to Revan’s will when locked in combat with the latter’s lightning. Revan’s potency with Force lightning was so powerful that he was even able to catch Sidious off guard with it, throwing the Dark Lord of the Sith into a wall with the sheer force of it. Later on in the two’s duel, Revan was even able to disarm him of his lightsaber with a powerful blast and subsequently nearly overwhelm him, despite Sidious’s similar proficiency in Force lightning. Prior to becoming a Dread Master, Revan’s Force lightning possessed enough power to incapacitate or kill nearly a dozen enemies simultaneously.
