Nessira Adrass

Nessira Adrass

Daughter of Nihyenn Adrass and heir to House Adrass, Nessira spent much of her early life concealed from the public eye due to the Emperor's policy of recruiting young, noble force-sensitives. This sheltered existence ended with the death of the Emperor, allowing the now-deposed House of Adrass to present Nessira on the stage of Tarisian politics.

Early life

Imperial Domain

Nessira was born in 9BBY into the Tarisian noble house of Adrass. Her mother, then Imperial Governor of Taris, concealed her pregnancy from the Emperor's agents by making an accord directly with the Inquisitorious. In exchange, the Adrass palace on Taris would serve as a training ground for the Inquisitorious' second generation of acolytes. In her isolation, Nessira turned inward, developing a love of literature and art. Throughout her childhood, she was also given the finest instruction available in the skills of a noble lady of Taris. This included statecraft, history, etiquette and (though unusual for a lady of a noble house) fencing. Nessira would excel in these subjects and, with the Emperor's death at the Battle of Endor, she would finally utilize these to integrate into society.

Downfall of Adrass

One year after the death of the Emperor, Taris became a contention point between the fledgling New Republic and waning Empire. Nihyenn Adrass, feigning neutrality while still supporting her arrangement with the Inquisitorious, was eventually deposed at the hands of Captain Mireille Nem and Black Fleet.   Having only recently been introduced to the court, Nessira was now subject to shame and disdain at the hands of her former friends. House Kidann, the new elected governing house of Taris imposed harsh penalties upon Adrass, including the partitioning of their palace complex and seizure of their financial assets. Many of the latter were later returned as a conciliation effort by the New Republic government. However, the noble houses of Taris continued to treat the House of Adrass as outcasts.   This treatment would continue until Nessira’s departure from the world in 8 ABY.

Jedi Academy

Arriving at the Jedi Academy on Yavin IV, Nessira quickly distinguished herself as a promising student. Powerful in the force, with complementary skills and practiced patience, Nessira quickly adapted to life within the Academy.   Despite her aptitude, Nessira did not entirely integrate herself into the academy culture. Though not a misanthrope by any means, Nessira maintained an aloof and haughty personage while among the other students. Additionally, due to her upbringing and class, Nessira had some early difficulties adapting to the presence of non-human students. These factors worried the Master of the Academy, Luke Skywalker, who took a personal interest in the tutoring of Nessira.

Delayed Apprenticeship

Passing the first trials in early 9 ABY, Nessira looked forward to beginning her apprenticeship under one of the Academy’s Knighted Jedi. However, due to the abundance of students and relative lack of available Knights, Nessira was passed over for elevation. Though Luke assured her that this was merely due to the lack of teachers and not to do with her own traits, Nessira took the decision hard.   While awaiting a Jedi to become available, Luke assigned Nessira as a dueling instructor. Alongside Sazi Offee and Kyle Katarn, Nessira tutored the newest arrivals to the Academy in the art of lightsaber combat. Uniquely, Nessira favored the second of the traditional lightsaber forms, Makashi. Utilizing her background in fencing, Nessira quickly developed a reputation as one of the most punishing duelists among the Academy’s students.   Luke, hoping to further develop Nessira’s skills during this period, took some time to personally tutor Nessira in the ways of the force. As the months dragged on with no slots opening for selection, Nessira continued to develop her skills, pushing herself harder with each passing day. Luckily, near the end of her second year at the academy, an opportunity for advancement arrived in the form of Jedi Knight Kred Jervata. The self-same Kred Jervata whom had played a hand in the downfall of house Adrass.
