3rd Deep Core Reserve Fleet

The 3rd Deep Core Reserve Fleet was a reserve fleet of the imperial Navy. It was stationed in the Koros sector during the Galactic Civil war and originally consisted of over 15 Imperial-class star destroyers under the command of Admiral Sekka Sarafine. At the height of the Galactic Civil war, shortly after the battle of Endor in 4 ABY, the Rebel Alliance started their campaign to liberate the Core Worlds from imperial forces. As civil war erupted on Coruscant and other worlds of the galactic core, the imperial command chain fell into disarray and infighting between imperial commanders began. The Rebel Alliance took devastating advantage of this, starting attacks on different locations in the Koros sector. As a result of all this the 3rd Deep Core Reserve Fleet was cut off from other imperial forces. Still confident in the fleets capabilities and that other imperial Navy elements would reinforce the core worlds, Admiral Sarafine engaged rebel forces on multiple fronts. With her forces spread thin and the rebels gaining more supporters by the day, the fleet suffered a number of devastating losses. Finally realizing the true danger of the situation, Admiral Sarafine undertook a desperate attempt to halt the rebel's momentum. To force the rebel fleet into a pitch battle, she consolidated her fleet at Empress Teta, in hopes that the planets orbital defenses would be enough to decisively win the battle. Unbeknownst to Admiral Sarafine, Emperor Alor Keto of Empress Teta had already pledged his allegiance to the Rebel Alliance in secret. When rebel navy assets engaged the ships of the 3rd Deep Core Reserve Fleet, Empress Teta's orbital defense network opened fire on Admiral Sarafines forces. Hopelessly outnumbered and surrounded, Admiral Sarafine's will to fight had seemingly been broken and she was unable to give coherent orders to her panicking crew and other ships of the fleet. Seeing that Sarafine was incapable of handling the situation, the fleet's 2nd-in-command, Commodore Stephaine Runalia, assumed command, ordering a full retreat and leaving Admiral Sarafine and her Star Destroyer to their fate. For the few surviving ships of the 3rd Deep Core Reserve Fleet, a desperate battle for survival ensued over the next 12 months. The fleet managed to avoid annihilation by pursuing New Republic forces by the skin of their teeth on a handful of occasions, being finally able to link up with Task Force 163 during the battle for the Ring of Kafrene. Reunited with imperial allies, Task Force 163 and the remnants of the 3rd Deep Core Reserve Fleet managed to break through to Yaga Minor, one of the last imperial holdouts in known space.
