Celeste Novalis was born on Kuat, 8 AFE. She was mainly raised by her mother, who held very pro-imperialist views and educated her on the finer parts on what it means to be an imperial citizen. Her father worked in the Kuat-Drive-Yards as a simple assembly-worker. She is the younger sibling of a now deceased imperial stormtrooper who lost his life in the Battle of Hoth and the older sister of a TIE-pilot.
After she lost her brother she enlisted in the Imperial Navy Academy on Kuat which is where she met her mentor and superior Jarek Darsten. One Year after the Battle of Endor, the Battle of Kuat commenced where she presumeably lost her father during the attacks on the Drive-Yards. She assumes her mother dead aswell, because she has not heard of her ever since. The status of her little sister is unknown but she fears the worst.
Celeste has been tranferred to the Unscrupulous in early 27 AFE, cutting her Academic Training short by a few months.

Personal history

Celeste's upbringing was one of peace and order. Stormtroopers keeping peace in the cities and Imperial Star-Destroyers roaming the orbit of Kuat, keeping the anarchy of the Rebellion at bay. Her father, Jared, worked at KDY as an assembly worker and regularly visited his family on the weekends. Her mother, Leena, worked part-time as a propagandist for the Imperial HoloNet Channel "Empire Today" and otherwise cared for Celeste, her older brother Giran and her little sister Hylovia. The Novalis family received financial aid by the Imperial Kuati Government due to the work of her father which was considered vital for the on-going war effort against the Rebel Alliance.
Celeste's mother tutored her extensively for the very first years of her life. She taught Celeste how to behave in front of people of authority such as imperial officials, elders or family members. Discipline and loyalty are the corner stones for a secure and healthy relationship and of course necessary to serve the Empire properly. Together with her mother she visited the Holodrama many times, especially her favourite movies which she saw dozens of times.
She was around the age of 8 when her brother decided to join the Stormtrooper Corps and while the family of course worried about him, they also saw a young man wishing to serve his Empire properly and therefore supported his wish to join. Celeste herself also toyed with the idea of joining a military branch of the Empire but initially decided against it. She reconsidered quickly after her brother died during his deployment on Hoth in 22 AFE. Her parents and sister took the death of her brother just as badly as she did. Her brother that she spent her entire life with, from her birth up until to now, stripped away by some anarchists, low-life criminals.
It was at that moment that she knew she was going to enlist in the Navy. Of course her parents urged her to reconsider but ultimately their wishes fell upon unfruitful ground, and she enlisted. Celeste visited her parents regularly during leave. It was also during that time that Celeste spent more time with her father who she now could visit on her own, due to transportation to the Kuati-Ring provided by the government. Her parents were particularly grief-stricken when Hylo also applied to the Navy, fearing that they may lose all of their children to war.
Celeste and her little sister Hylovia, or Hylo, originally formed a very strong relationship due to their close age, with only a one year gap. Sadly, said relationship deteriorated later on in their lives because of Hylo's strong competetive nature, even more so in regards to Celeste, unfortunately for her. Therefore a one sided rivalry started that culminated in Hylo being picked for the Royal Imperial Academy on Coruscant at the age of 15. Afterwards the both held little contact and spoke rarely with one another, much to Celeste's and maybe even Hylo's dismay. The ever-worsening war effort saw Hylo being pulled from the academy early some 6 months after the Battle of Endor. Subsequently Hylo was, much to Celeste's relief, assigned to the ISD-I "Ascendant", a reserve unit specifically intended for flight cadets. The fate of the ship and Hylo are unkown to Celeste and to make matters worse, the last known assignment of the Ascendant was the Battle of Jakku.
The bond between Celeste and her father grew extraordinarily strong during her time at the academy on Kuat. Applied Space Warfare Theoretics (ASWT) and Theoretic Tactics and Strategy (TTS) was taught up in the sky on the Ring of Kuat, providing her with ample opportunity to visit her father. It was also during that time that Celeste's appreciation for her father's job grew immensely. Together they visited imperial museums during her father's spare time. In the year of 23 AFE, she and her father were permitted to visit the bridge of the Vindicator-Class Heavy Cruiser "Empress", the ship he was working on at the time.
At the Academy she got along well with most and also met her two best friends Jaden Carrellio and Mina Vaile. They quickly forged a strong friendship, spending countless days and nights together. The Academy is also where Celeste met Jarek Darsten, her ASWT teacher. Her grades were well above-average in almost every subject but especially so in ASWT. Jaden and Mina were good students, in most cases even better ones than Celeste, yet they could never beat her in ASWT.
Jarek Darsten was an important key-figure in Celeste's life. He represented the officer she aspired to be, good-willed, fatherly strictness and a spontaneous and adaptable strategist. To this day she tries to emulate some parts of his leadership and live up to his expectations, hence her past commitment to ASWT. Celeste owes Darsten for his teachings and personal guidance, amongst other things.
On one day in 24 AFE, a year after the Battle of Endor, the Rebellion unexpectedly struck Kuat. Celeste barely survived the attack due to fortunate circumstances. She was subsequently reassigned to the academy on Myomar, together with the rest of the survivors of her class. Both her parents died in the aforementioned terrorist attack, earning her a meeting with the imperial doctors and psychologists on Myomar. Her grades dropped noticeably, turning her into an average to slightly below-average student. According to rumors spread by some students, Celeste was only academically successful because of her relations to Darsten.
She graduated informally in 27 AFE, 3 months before the rest of her class, and was assigned to the "Unscrupulous". It was by chance or fate rather than a decision to continue fighting after the Galactic Concordance. Celeste just happend to be within a System that continued to do so. But make no mistake, she would not want to have it any other way, she will not squander her opportunity to serve the Empire and finally crush this Rebellion once and for all...

Celeste's best time of her life was during her time at the Academy. Due to her upbringing under her mother's strict rule she adapted very well to the atmosphere in the Academy. There she took courses such as Applied Space Warfare Theoretics, ASWT in short, Core World Culture (CWC), Theoretic Tactics and Strategy (TTS), Xenobiology (XB) and more. Celeste excelled the first year of her academic education, earning above-average marks but that soon changed after the death of her parents. The Academy is also where Celeste met most of her friends, like-minded individuals that she spent almost each and every day with.

She is on board the "Unscrupulous" a light cruiser of the Arquitens-Class, built during the Clone Wars.
