Session 11

General Summary

Eleven: The Smash & Grab   The group is stranded in the desert of Mataou. They radio the Eventide and arrange a pick up with Bob. Cale confronts Maeve about what happened, and she provides a brief explanation about what she experienced. Pointing out that Mir was there berating her and asks him why. He has no response.   They arrive back to the Eventide to find the sensors have indicated an Imperial Star Destroyer has entered orbit. Maeve retreats to Mez’s quarters while the rest find out why the Star Destroyer has arrived. They find a prisoner transfer list, including one with the same last name as Jolder. When brought to her attention, she tells the group it is her cousin, Rickter. She urges the group to help rescue him. They find out the transfer will take place in a couple days, and Cale suggests the group take up Urpa Tinn’s offer to use one of his ships.   Meanwhile, Maeve tries to meditate in Mez’s quarters, but is unable to calm herself and lashes out with the force, knocking a book off of a shelf. She opens it to find Mez’s journal, detailing his life from the time he became a padawan up to the group’s last mission. Mez had closed the last entry with, “I have to protect these people, they’re the closest thing I’ve had to a family in a long time.”   The others hear banking and welding coming from Mir’s claimed space on the ship. Cale investigates to find Mir has constructed an effigy of Mez, creating some kind of shrine. Cosa wanders in and asks why Mir made it. Cale tells Cosa that Mez didn’t make it, that something unexpected happened and Mez was the only reason anyone made it out.   Maeve feels an intrusion into her mind, then Mir’s voice: “I’m sorry. We did what we could do. I could not predict every outcome.” She asks him what he means, but receives no response.   Bob begins playing a song, the tune flooding through the ship. Maeve continues to try to center herself but keeps failing.     Later, the group plans their attack on the Star Destroyer to rescue Jolder’s cousin.   Jolder and Tar are sent to breach the destroyer at the main hangar, while Mir, Maeve, and Cale enter through a smaller hangar. They fight their way to the brig while Jolder and Tar wreak havoc in the main hangar. They manage to free Rickter from his cell and make a brief search for any artifacts that Urpa Tinn had requested, finding none. While Rickter arms himself and the others search for artifacts, Maeve senses something ominous on the ship and tells everyone they need to leave. As the group escapes, they are pursued by a squadron of death troopers and an Inquisitor. The same Inquisitor they’ve faced before. As the squadron nears, Rickter and Maeve trail behind. Rickter lifts Maeve off her feet to barrel them out of the Destroyer, and she unleashes a blast of force lightning at the pursuers, downing the troopers, with only the Inquisitor left standing.
