Session 3

General Summary

Three: The Temple   The temple is a near-identical replica of the former Jedi Temple, made from the dirty, rusted junk that litters the Wastes. The floor plan of the temple is the same as the original, and the group heads to where the archives should be located. Cale notices a trip wire when we arrive there and is not able to disarm it appropriately.     Jolder informs the group that she has contacted her liaison and the Rebels are set to rendezvous with us on Lianna.     Still exploring the temple, Mez reaches out and senses a Force presence. In response, an entity yells “GET OUT – WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?” When the group attempts to question it, it only replies that “The Jedi are gone. What you seek is not here. The Jedi killed themselves, the ideal died with them.” Mez again attempts to communicate with it, but receives an accusation, “The tricks of the Sit are no match for one that is trained in their art.” The group continues, in search of a way higher up. Metallic scurrying heard around them as they make their way. While searching, they come across a cylinder suspended in the air. An attempt to retrieve it results in a struggle against pit droids for the item. Eventually, the group manages to block off the droids and obtain the cylinder.     After finding the “lift”, which of course is not a real lift, the group must climb further up to reach the area that would be the Council Chambers. While the door can be unlocked with ease, it still does not open. They notice a crude inscription at the door, part of the Jedi code: “There is no emotion, there is peace.” The Jedi meditate, and the door opens after one hour. Entering the chamber reveals an approximation of the Council Chambers, complete with droid effigies of each Council member, plus an extra empty chair at one end. As the group explores the room, Mez spits upon the effigy representing Ki-Adi Mundi – rousing a reaction from whatever has been harassing the group since they entered.     It is revealed to be Master Kazdan Paratus, a small being with attached mechanical legs. When he confronts the group, he is clearly somewhat insane. He rambles, stating, “He will know, he will come, he has been searching for it.” When the group inquires who is searching, he replies, “Skywalker.”     Paratus reveals that Skywalker killed the younglings and the Jedi Knights in the temple. That he was corrupted by darkness, and that he knows what is here at the temple. Paratus refers to something of “great evil, unflinching eyes, unending stare.” He reveals that something here houses an undying, unending soul. That it is hungry and must stay hidden.     While the group attempts to reason with Paratus, he will not calm. He continues to rant and launches an assault on the group along with his Council of droids. Eventually the floor collapses and the group falls through, into a stone area adorned with menacing statues lining a pathway. An inscription adorns the area in a language no one knows. There is note written underneath it in basic: “The Sith must know sacrifice.” Closer examination reveals 4 pairs of statues, each holding a weapon pointing at the one across the path. The group manages to move along the path by passing behind the statues.     The columns surrounding the next door are inscribed with hands pointed at the door as if lifting. After trying a few other things, the Jedi open the door by simultaneously Force pushing & pulling the door. The group moves through another area and is attacked by Sith ghosts, defeating them.     The last chamber is unnaturally dark and cold. There seems to be an awareness in the room, watching the group. There is an altar in the room, which houses a floating mask. Approaching the mask seems to trigger whispers in the back of the mind – words indiscernible. Writing among the walls of the chamber state, “it hungers, it must feed.” Above the altar is written, “The Lord of Hunger shall rise again.” And a book that accompanies the altar states that “the Lord of Hunger shall rise again. The Lord of Hunger shall once again join the race of men.”     Mez is not able to resist the pull of the mask and grabs it. Other members of the group manage to stop him as Paratus arrives to stop us from taking it. The temple begins to shudder, debris falling around the group. It is clear the temple will not remain standing for long, and the group flees. As they escape, the temple collapses, and those that are Force-sensitive feel the power of the Force that previously saturated the area dissipate. On the trek back to Mir’s hovel, the group takes notice of a mostly intact ambassador ship.
