Hunting the Hitman
Peace Summit
Koz Falkee: A Rodian shipping magnate, he is the other recognized leader of the Mantellian Separatist Movement. (Interests seem purely motivated by greed.) Ozzam Brenn: Son of Governor Revel Brenn, a socialite with a love of gambling and women. His mother is attempting to mold him into a statesman. He is an early 20s human. (Typically has a smug attitude like most problems are beneath him.) After the arrival of the Minister, his retinue of Mandalorians, and Koz Falkee, the leaders of the Mantellian Separatist Movement, Governor Brenn, and her son Ozzam shake hands and exchange pointed pleasantries. They continue to exchange veiled jabs at each other while they are photographed. After what seems like an eternity the Governor and the Minister give speeches outlining their official positions. This wraps up the more public portion of the Summit. Many of the media, and lesser officials leave after this, leaving only a select group. Governor Brenn, her aide Feln, her son Ozzam, Minister, Koz Falkee, Gryl, Zesku, the Wren Siblings, and Commander Osk. The group heads into a large round conference chamber. An assortment of snacks and food occupy a large table on one wall of the room. The Governor sends the RDC guards outside the room and looks to the Minister to do the same. Braz gives a nod and the handful of Mandalorians with him follow the guards out. Commander Osk takes the opportunity for privacy to confront Falkee and Minister Lor. Osk:Two of my officers have gone missing in the past month gentleman. Does either of you know anything about it? He gives them a stern look.Minister Lor:
I have heard about the recent disappearances Commander, you have our utmost sympathies but you must know we are certainly not involved. We are here because we seek a peaceful resolution to the crisis at hand.Falkee:
He is quite right Osk. We have no reason to take your officers. Although given what I know of the RDC it is likely they simply got themselves killed. He lets out a soft chuckle.Commander Osk throws a mean right hook at Falkee knocking him onto the ground. The Mandalorians immediately move to protect him and the RDC is quick to pull Commander Osk back. Governor:
That will be quite enough of that gentlemen! We are here to settle are differences not fist fight!Osk and Falkee shoot angry looks at each other before offering insincere apologies. The Mandalorians help Falkee to his feet. Osk begins straightening his uniform as the others take their seats. A young enlisted woman, Anra Nad, pulls Commander Osk away, citing an urgent matter that requires his attention. Much of the facade is dropped at this point, the Governor, Minister, and Mr. Falkee all seem much more honest in their intentions and disdain for one another. [Governor Brenn seeks to maintain ownership of the government and remain part of the Republic. She is willing to push for more local representation and more planetary officials who belong to Ord Mantell. Refuses to step down or allow for trials on the planet.] [Minister seeks to establish greater representation of Mantellian in the Government, New elections for all top officials, and a new Mantellian police force. He is willing to concede the trials being held by the Republic.] [Falkee seeks total separation from the Republic, an entirely new Government, and a new police force. He is willing to concede trials being held at all. Unwilling to accept Republic oversight into business affairs any longer.] The trio spar for hours on end with varying levels of passion and commitment. Occasionally, Feln will chime in to support the Governor in some way. Zesku also occasionally steps in to cool tempers that flare. Late into the evening after hours of argument, Feln is called away briefly. After 20ish minutes she returns to nervously whisper into the Governor's ear. The Governor goes sheet white and rises without a word and runs out the main door. Confused many of the others rise to follow. Outside at the bottom of the steps of the Circle is a grizzly sight. Commander Osk has been stripped and skewered in front of the circle the word Braga is carved into his chest. Upon seeing the gruesome scene, Governor Brenn levels a small blaster that she drew from under her gown directly at the Minister. Brenn:
Did you do this?!Before she can even finish her sentence the Mandalorians have circled the group and have their own blasters pointed at the Governor and her people. She doesn't flinch. The RDC quickly responds causing some of the Mandalorians to divert their attention but Braz remains fixed on the Governor and another on Zesku. Horrified, the Minister and Falkee begin to panic and stumble over their words. Finally, the Minister speaks. Minister:
No! No! Of course not! Revel, you can't think we would really... we would never... you have to know this isn't us!!Zesku steps between the Governor and the Minister calmly. Zesku:
Governor, let us take a moment before more blood is spilled. The Minister and Falkee are here, they have sat down with us with the goal of peace of mind. Despite how this may look we do not have all the answers yet. Let us not jump to conclusions. After a tense moment, the Governor lowers her blaster and orders the RDC to do the same. Hesitantly they do so. The Minister gives a look to Braz who lowers his weapon. The rest of the Mandalorians immediately follow suit. The two sides huddle together in their respective circles and begin speaking in hushed tones. After a few moments: Falkee:
This is enough excitement for one evening I am going home, he storms off with a pair of Mandalorians in tow.The Governor pulls her son close and tells him to do the same. She orders a squad of RDC guards to take him despite a minor protest. The Governor then waves away everyone who is unessential. Governor:
Minister, you can say with certainty that this wasn't your people?Minister:
My people are passionate about their home Revel, they are not murderers, and certainly not butchers! and I have known Falkee for quite some time, he is greedy and a bit of a bore but he would never stoop to such barbarity!Governor:
Then we have a killer on our hands.Feln rushes back to the Governor's side. Feln:
Two others have been found. The Captain and Lieutenant that have been missing for a few weeks. Both are similarly... displayed...Governor:
Master Merrin, my people are not equipped to handle this sort of thing and quite frankly I need as many soldiers as I can get to help keep the peace. Can I trust you to investigate this situation?Minister:
Now hold on Revel, I'm sure the Jedi are quite competent but this points to us, this drags our name and movement through the mud. Plus the Republic has motive to see us discredited. We need a more independent investigation.Zesku:
Jedi have an obligation for justice and peace Minister, but I can respect your position. With the governor's permission perhaps one of your guards can join us. She gestures toward the Wren siblings. They can at least serve as oversight to ensure you are being treated fairly and not persecuted unjustly.Governor:
If you think it wise Master Jedi.Minister:
Very well, that feels appropriate. He turns to Via. I know I have asked a great deal of you already dear, would you do me this one more favor? I have a feeling you will present an objective picture of the situation at large.Zesku pulls Gryl aside. Zesku:
Padawan, this investigation is something I will need you to handle on your own. If three members of the RDC leadership have been dispatched in mere weeks, with the precarious state this planet is in, I fear full conflict is inevitable. I must stay near the Governor and help maintain peace in any way I can. I fear if I do not they may just shoot each other in cold blood. I trust your judgment, you must do the same. Trust in yourself and trust in the Force.
