The Sentax

The Stenax are a fierce, ill-tempered, brooding, and violent race from the planet of Stenos. Being a very spiritual people they fanatically followed the dictates of their god, Vol. They built elaborate cities upon mountains and spires on their planet and spent most of their lives off the planet's surface never interacting with the ground below.  They were content to live their lives as they were and had only basic technology with no interest in travel among the stars.
The reptilian Stenaxes are considered a fearsome sight. Two to two and a half meters tall and thickly muscled, they had gargoyle-like faces and a row of bony spikes running across their shoulders. Three sharp claws punctuated each foot and five each hand, with additional spikes lining the backs of their calf muscles. Stenaxes had scaly, purple-gray skin and white eyes with minuscule pupils.
Few offworlders know the details of their biology. However, according to hieroglyphs found in the ruins of the abandoned city of Farruz, they could live as long as 270 standard years, remaining in good health until 220. Whether such longevity was a result of their physiology or some other influence is a source of debate, for few winged species came close to such a lifespan.
The cities of the Stenax were built upon the spires of Stenax high above the ground, the Stenax would fly between the spires living above the clouds and avoiding life on the surface.
However 10 years ago the planet suffered from a massive seismic event, causing powerful earthquakes to shatter spires.  This even became known as  "The Great Cataclysm".  During the earthquakes the statue to their sun god Vol fell from it's place atop a mountainous Spire.  After the loss of their great statue of Vol the Stenax have left the life of flight behind in disgrace. Stenax believed they had angered their god and in shame chose to abandon their greatest gift, the gift of flight.  The decision was immediate causing many to leave belongings in their homes in the clouds as well as shatter families who now had to search for one another on foot.  Now for the first time Stenax are having to live on the world's surface and adapt to this new life style unless they can redeem themselves in the eyes of their god Vol.
Now within the last year the Stenax have stumbled upon the Bith who have been living on their world for centuries. This first contact became violent.
It has only been within the last few years that the Stenax have begun to travel offworld making the sight of their species extremely rare.
