The Mandalorian civil war erupted in the capital city of Sundari after the Shadow Collective deposed Duchess Satine Kryze and her New Mandalorian government.

Vizsla the leader of Death Watch is killed by Opress the leader of the Shadow Collective in a leadership challenge but much of Death Watch refuse to follow Opress. Bo-Katan Kryze, the Duchess' sister and a Viszla loyalist, gathered her forces and rebelled against Opress's rule.
