Wound Threshold: 10 + Brawn Strain Threshold: 10 + Willpower   Starting XP: 95   Special:   Add one rank to Knowledge (Xenology).   Cultural Adopters: Add one automatic advantage to the results of social checks with non-Thollothians.   Natural Roots: Heal one additional strain when making a check to do so in a natural or wild setting.
Tholothians represent an important distinction that the Empire is prepared to make: according to all xenobiological classification standards the Empire endorses, Tholothians are a near-human species, yet due to Imperial attitudes toward Tholothian cultural values, they are instead classified merely as "sentients." Most Tholothians are aware of this intentional inaccuracy and that it exists primarily to subvert their rights, and indeed this hypocrisy is core to any Tholothian equality movement, of which there are many. Unfortunately, the Empire fosters no equality, and the official response is usually that the Tholothians are "merely demonstrating why they can't be granted near-human rights and privileges."   The Imperials are absolutely correct in their claim that Tholothian society is incompatible with their own. Tholothians are one of many galactic societies who never flirted with slavery of their own or of foreign aliens. Further, in Tholoth's distant history, they came to the conclusion that the preservation of natural environments was a paramount concern, and thus limited industry to non-residential regions. Later, after their exposure to galactic society, they began using alien technology to move their industrial sphere off-world, thus allowing Tholoth to flourish as a near-natural wonderworld.   Moreover, due to this exposure to and adoption of alien technology, the Tholothians also developed a culture not only accepting of but broadly inviting to aliens, often driven by a natural curiosity for how other species live, and desire to share their own world and values. This has resulted in strange synergistic attitude toward culture. In any given Tholothian settlement, one will see alien buildings interspersed comfortably with Tholothian native architecture. It is not uncommon for Tholothian thought leaders to cite Jawa utilitarianism or Wookiee naturalism. Although Tholothian headdresses are a distinct staple of the local culture, "Tholothian fashion" is indefinable, as many actively seek out fashions from foreign worlds.    This is now exploited by the Empire, and many Imperial citizens view Tholoth as a poor world that even a man on a work-a-day credit allowance might pay to live like a Moff, at least temporarily. There is a stereotype among the Empire that the Tholothians are stupid savages that view humans as natural gods, which is of course untrue, but a horribly exploitative tourism industry has formed to meet this need. Urban Tholothians have begun to feel like commodities on their own homeworld, thus driving many to resentment and participation in the growing rebellion.
