Desperate Dive

You can leap behind cover, even when caught out in the open.

Desperate Dive

Prerequisite: Trained in Athletics
  • Benefit: Once per round, as a Reaction to being targeted by a ranged attack, you can make a Athletics check to Long Jump, into a square that will grant you Cover. If your check meets or exceeds the Athletics check DC, you land prone in cover and gain the Cover bonus against the attack, depending on the type of Cover you have. If your check does not meet the DC of the Athletics check, you land prone in a square adjacent to you, and you lose the benefits of being Prone against a Ranged Attack.

Improved Desperate Dive

Prerequisite: Trained in Athletics & Desperate Dive
  • Benefit: Once per round, as a Reaction to being targeted by a ranged attack, you can make an Athletics check (with a +3 circumstance bonus) to Long Jump into a square that will grant you Cover. If your check meets or exceeds the Athletics check DC, you land prone in cover and gain the Cover bonus (with a +3 circumstance bonus) against the attack, depending on the type of Cover you have. If your check does not meet the DC of the Athletics check, you land prone in a square within 2 squares of you but not in the cover, and you lose the benefits of being Prone against a Ranged Attack.

Master Desperate Dive

Prerequisites: Trained in Athletics & Improved Desperate Dive
  • Benefit: Once per round, as a Reaction to being targeted by a ranged attack, you can make an Athletics check (with a +5 circumstance bonus) to Long Jump into a square that will grant you Cover. If your check meets or exceeds the Athletics check DC, you land prone in cover and gain the Cover bonus (with a +5 circumstance bonus) against the attack, depending on the type of Cover you have; you also make your attack roll their Attack against you with Disadvantage. If your check does not meet the DC of the Athletics check, you land prone in a square within 2 squares of you (if you land in Cover with a failed check you do not gain its benefits until after the start of your next turn).

Perfect Desperate Dive

Prerequisites: Trained in Athletics, Master Desperate Dive, & Commando Training
  • Benefit: Once per round, as a Reaction to being targeted by a ranged attack, you can make an Athletics check (with a +7 circumstance bonus) to Long Jump (counting it as a Running Start) into a square that will grant you Cover. If your check meets or exceeds the Athletics check DC, you land prone in cover and treat the Cover bonus as though it were one level higher than it is (with a +7 circumstance bonus) against the attack; you also make your attack roll their Attack against you with Disadvantage. If your check does not meet the DC of the Athletics check, you land prone in a square within 2 squares of you (if you land in Cover with a failed check you gain the benefits for the level of Cover one below it until after the start of your next turn).
