Kurzahn Starswimmer Drive
The Kurzahn Starswimmer drive is poorly understood, though it is apparently derived from the same techniques used by Purgill for faster than light travel. The most remarkable component of it's function is actually it's ability to detect gravity wells and hyperspace distortions at extremely long distances, far superior to conventional FTL sensors. This allows the drive, which is already as fast as a military courier ship, to travel at speeds equivalent to those of a hyperspace lane, provided the pilot is actively navigating around obstacles. Kurzahn vessels need to go 'deep' into hyperspaec for their sensors to work at full effectiveness however, meaning that it takes some time in hyperspace for a ship to reach optimal speeds.
