Master Yerba's Report on Rakatan Enemy

In studying the data provided to them, Yerba believes they have located the homeworld of the Rakatan enemy.
  • There is an area of space known as the Nirauan Expanse (blue ovoid) that has long been believed to be a component, remnant, or offshoot of the Hyperspace Tangle.
  • While hyperspace travel inside the expanse IS possible, it has always been impractical to chart permanent hyperspace routes through the expanse as the Alpha currents are continuously in flux, making it impossible to find consistently stable exotic coordinates.
  • The expanse itself shifts regularly (larger yellow ovoid denotes all places occasionally in it's influence), but very slowly by anthropoid temporal perspectives; the current borders will essentially be accurate for the next few decades.
  • The Nirauan Expanse is anchored to an unremarkable G-type binary star system named NT-J5λ-862.  This has never been regarded as unusual, because most aspects/components of the Tangle are anchored to stellar phenomena, but no hyperdimensional theorist has ever been able to give a reasonable explanation for the existence of such a strong hyperspace occlusion so far from both the Tangle, and Galactic Barrier.
  • What is much more unusual is that NT-J5λ-862 is almost completely inaccessible via hyperdrive with only the lowest Theta bands being accessible and at ludicrous energy costs.  This strange phenomenon combined with Rakatan references to 'cutting off' enemy access to their homeworld via Celestial technology, and various references in the rakatan data to other landmarks of stellar cartography lead Yerba to believe NT-J5λ-862 is the enemy homeworld.
  • It is worth noting that there are indications that the Expanse is deteriorating over time, unlike the Hyperspace Tangle.  Records from 5,000 years ago indicate the expanse was both slightly larger, and had a more significant impact on travel.
  • Yerba is NOT a theoretical physicist, and the Republic has never prioritized studying the expanse, as other aspects of the Tangle are both more accessible, and have more impact on the Republic; Nevertheless, they consulted with a colleague and an approximate estimate is that a conventional civilian hyperdrive would need 3 months to cover the final 3 parescs around the star system.
  • Travel time could probably be reduced with a specialized starship, such as the ones used by The Republic to study the edges of the Unknown Regions.  Yerba did inquire about the availability of such a ship, but they are always expensive and custom-built, and as such, there is a years-long wait list for access to the 4 vessels currently under the control of the Jedi Academic Resources commission.
