Galactic Standard Calendar

GM Note:

The Star Wars calendar is very vague. Canon has no defined calendar. It does not even have an official name. Legends sources tell us the days of the week, define weeks, months and years. The festival weeks are named and their dates are defined. However, the holidays are not named or dated. So I placed the holidays at the end of each festival week and named them after them for simplicity.
In a galaxy as big and diverse as the one inhabited by the New Republic it is hard to keep a universal calendar. For coordination the Old Republic, and later the Galactic Empire used a standard calendar based on the Coruscant calendar.

Time Measurements

60 standard seconds make up 1 standard minute
60 standard minutes make up 1 standard hour
24 standard hours make up 1 standard day
5 standard days make up 1 standard week
7 standard weeks make up 1 standard month
10 standard months + 3 festival weeks and 3 holidays make up 1 standard year.

Days of the Week

Primeday

is the first day of the week.

Centaxday

is the second day of the week. It is named after Centax-1, the first moon of Coruscant.

Taungsday

is the third day of the week. It is named after an society of warriors who have faded into legend.

Zhellday

the fourth day of the week. It is named after the ancestors of the humans who live on Coruscant.

Benduday

the fifth day of the week. It is named after ancient monks who preached peace and unification. This day is considered a day of rest and usually a day off for those who follow this calendar.

Other Calendars

The problem in using this calendar on other planets is that their days and years are different lengths than Coruscant. Many systems follow the standard minutes and hours but their days do not synchronize.
Many of the core worlds try to follow the weekly schedule of Coruscant but the further from the core the more likely a system is to follow local customs.

Holidays Across the Galaxy

Each culture has it's own holidays so there are countless number of local festivals and celebrations. Those who still respect the Coruscanti calendar will celebrate the holiday on the their day that most closely matches the holiday.
