Triune's Beacon
In their native Galaxy, each iteration of Triune's Drift Beacon is unique in form and behavior. They have some traits in common:
- Each Drift Beacon was created by powerful clergy within the Church of Triune, or possibly by Triune Themself -- the Church will not discuss the specifics.
- Each Drift Beacon is capable of functioning and maintaining its form within normal space and Drift space 1
- Each Drift Beacon emits a signal into both normal space and Drift space which allows Drift-capable starships to accurately target a Drift jump. 2
- Each Drift Beacon can also act as a communication relay. 2
An Example:
The Artifact seems to be a nonferrous, nonconductive metallic sphere, about 2 feet in diameter and covered in a layer of grime. It's extraordinarily resilient, resisting any tinkering or abuse the mortals in its vicinity may apply to it. The sphere's exact use or purpose is unclear at this time.
Triune's Beacon within the Osiris Branch Library most closely resembled a pair of nested spheres. The outer sphere was hollow and translucent, having a reddish tinge when clean similar to watermelon tourmaline crystal. Its surface was smooth except where it had twenty extruded nodules precisely arranged around the sphere.
The inner sphere, with approximately half the diameter of the outer sphere, might have been potassium permanganate based on how it interacted with light while it was not, itself, emitting light or energy. 3
Which state maintained for a fraction of a millisecond every second.
Its emitted light includes enough milliseconds of "red" and "blue" to register in the perception of most carbon-based sentient life forms. Simultaneously, it emits information in other formats, including digital signals, ultraviolet signals, and several communication media particularly accessible to SRO life forms.
