Going into deep Sapho mathematical meditation and leaving my prejudices and preconceived notions behind, I observe the known facts about our Joyful Competition. I let the math flow over me and through me. D'Joy's deepest core is a craving for Order, Knowledge, and Control. Science is his key to unlock all three. D'Joy is at heart a scientist. He has become many other things, but he will never not be a scientist, studying the truths of the universe. He has glimpsed a Grand Ultimate Theory of how the universe actually works. Testing his theory may take a lifetime, or may be very close. He has gained knowledge of a specific type of Dark Side alchemy (religious crystals which harness powerful energy) and incorporated it with Tleilaxu genetic skills (to grow or print living insects). That confirms his mastery of the Tleilaxian Mentat training, a "twisted" Mentat, which is of little surprise. Given that he is so interested in bio-genetics, I deduce there is 87% likelihood that his final endgame involves a transformation of some kind. An alteration to suit his own craving for Order, Knowledge, and Control.

Like almost all Mentats, D'Joy is working for an "employer" or "master". This employer wants to stay hidden for now. It is 97% likely that D'Joy's employer ordered the attack on the Crimson Knights. It sent a message of fear, of power, of unbalancing. Serving this employer gives D'Joy the means to pursue his scientific interests.

All of the "bad luck" which currently vexes Port Etmar (Bloodsmith Raiders, bio-cybernetic insects, the Chancellor's assassin) are close enough to the "Infinity Gate" that is inside the Revolving Temple that they all serve as good camouflage for scanning above and below ground and for testing the response time of any defenses, physical and spiritual. There is no physical door to the Temple, so he has not entered it today because ... he lacks an ingredient for his formula he is slowly assembling. Perhaps he is looking for a specific key to open a door? A door that can only be reached through this Infinity “Gate”. At the point he enters the Temple and the Gate, he will no longer have any use for his current "master" or "employer".
Star Wars: Shards is a work of pure, unabashed fiction. In fact, it considers itself rather heroic, noble, and quite proud of itself.
The opinions expressed on the in-world pages or within quotation boxes are those of the characters and should not be confused with either of the authors, since the characters and authors tend to disagree a lot. But … This is the Way.
Names of characters, places, events, organizations and locations are all creations of the authors' imaginations for this fictitious setting, except where credit is given to the sources of inspiration. Any resemblance to persons living, dead, or reanimated is coincidental.
