Taroak Species in Stars of Destiny | World Anvil

Taroak

Basic Information

Anatomy

These large quadrupeds have bodies that are reminiscent of a Terran bear with ears like that of a hound dog. They have corrugated flesh rather than fur. There's several rows of thorny ridges running down their back that they use in bodily contact attacks.

Additional Information

Social Structure

They prefer to be alone except for their annual mating season and when the females have cubs.

Domestication

They're likely intelligent enough to be domesticated but such a thing is strictly prohibited.

Average Intelligence

They're cat-like in their intellect and instinctively tricky.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They walk most of the time but they have the ability to teleport to a spot within their line of sight.
There's a scent gland at the base of their tail that they can trigger at will that causes opponents to flee outright or fight at reduced efficiency.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

They're often covered in moss. The older a creature is, the more moss they've accumulated.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Their skin has a greyish-brown tone to it, though some explorers have spotted ones with a distinctly reddish skin much further away from settled areas. It's as yet unknown if this is a standard variant, a mutation, or a subspecies. It's also probably that what the city's inhabitants think of as the standard colour is, in fact, a subspecies to the red ones.
