You detect the aura of psionic powers, effects and objects (including those on or affecting creatures you can see), as well as hybrid items. You can’t detect psionic traps in this way, as they are created with additional abilities that ward them from this common power. Each round you concentrate on the same area, you can determine if one psionic aura you detect is from a spell, psionic item, or other effect, and what the manifester level of the effect is. You cannot determine if there is a psionic aura in areas or on items you cannot see, or if there was one in an area at one time but it has since left.
Augment: You can augment this power in any of the following ways:

1. If you spend 2 additional psi points, the duration changes to 3 rounds/lvl. (D) (no concentration required) and it also gives you a +10 insight bonus on Mysticism checks made to identify the properties and command words of psionic items in your possession. This power does not allow you to identify artifacts.
2. If you spend 4 additional psi points, you can detect the faintly lingering auras of psionic items that are no longer present. Such auras persist for one hour per manifester level after a magic item leaves the area. Overwhelmingly strong auras, such as those resulting from artifacts or the actions of deities, persist for one week.
3. If you spend 6 additional psi points, this power can penetrate barriers. This power’s ability gains sense-through 10 feet.
