Redirection

Discipline: Psychokinesis; Level: Psion 4   Manifesting Time: 1 reaction   Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)   Target: One energy effect   Duration: Instantaneous   Saving Throw: None; Power Resistance: no   Psi Points: 7   You take some of the control of the universe’s energies away from another, directing it as you will no matter the original user’s intentions. Whenever a spell, power, or ranged weapon is used that deals energy damage (acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic), you may choose a different target for it. Both the origin and the new target must be within range, and the new target must be legal for the original effect. If it requires an attack roll, you make the new roll. If it affects an area, you choose the direction or center point as appropriate (blast weapons fire in a different direction, explode weapons have a different origin point, etc).   Suddenly causing these forces to act differently is draining. You are staggered on your following turn. In addition, you can only affect a target that has an item level, caster level, or manifester level no higher than your own. You gain no insight if you are strong enough to affect it by using this power, it fails if the target is too strong (you still expend the psi points to manifest the power).   Augment: You can augment this power in any of the following ways:
  1. For every additional psi points you spend, increase your effective manifester level for the purposes of affecting a target by 1.
  2. If you spend 4 additional psi points, you are not staggered after using this power.
  3. If you expend your Psionic Focus, you may instead cause area effects to ignore some spaces they would otherwise hit. Choose a number of five-foot spaces up to your key ability modifier. The effect does not affect those spaces, nor any creature or object within them. This use does not leave you staggered.
