Basic Information

Anatomy

A relative of the pink fairy armadillo, however considerably larger. Their backsides are covered by a layer of protective shielding from birds of prey that would try to attack them. A similar shielding covers the tops of their heads, and when their necks recede inwards, it becomes a single shield that protects all of the vital organs of the organism. The shield is made of compressed cartilage and hair cells. The bare head, legs, and tail are covered in short white fur. They have long, sturdy claws, which they use to dig through dry desert soil in search of the roots of succulents.

Ecology and Habitats

Lives in semi-arid deserts, moving slowly amongst scraggy brush and light under growth.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Eats the roots of plants that it digs out, which is also where it gets most of its moisture and hydration.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have short ears with relatively good hearing, which they use to detect predators so that they can shield themselves in time. The hearing does not go far, but can hear minute details to detect anything creeping up on it.
