History

Radio Technology

Shortly after the spaceflight ban was lifted, short crewed flights were launched in the area surrounding Earth. These flights utilized radio communication technology to communicate with ground control. Although outdated, this technology appeared to work perfectly until it was used for longer distances. Then everything started to go wrong...

Handheld Communications

Due to these disasters, a new form of communication was invented. A small computer designed to be worn on the wrist. It allowed crew members to communicate with Earth regardless of distance and was tested extensively to ensure safety. Since then, it has become a key piece of safety equipment and has saved countless lives.

The Last Disaster

The first human sent into deep space after the spaceflight ban was lifted never came back... They had an issue with their ship that could have been resolved, but due to issues with the communications technology, they could not reach out to ground control for support. The issue couldn't be fixed, and the ship never came back.   The technology aboard the ship had limited distance and therefore failed when used in space. Because of this tragedy, personal communicators were invented, and made mandatory for every member of a spaceship's crew.
