A Mystery Sickness

Star sickness appeared out of nowhere and hasn't gone away. It appears to spread at random and only affects Stars (a sentient species of star). Nobody knows how it began and there is almost no research on how to cure it. Because Stars are a close community and tend not to associate themselves with other species, they don't have anyone to help them. Yet...

Symptoms

Day One

Star sickness can often be first recognised by symptoms such as spending more effort to communicate with other stars, difficulty comprehending the Song of the Stars and feeling a closer affinity with natural stars rather than those of its own species.

Week One

After a week the Star begins to struggle with verbalising its thoughts, it may become less communicative and may begin to lose its place in the Song of the Stars.

Month One

Around the end of the first month, the Star will lose its ability to sing and communicate verbally with others. This is incredibly isolating for the star and can put a huge strain on their community.

Year One

After around a year, the Star will lose all sense of self. It loses its sentience and becomes indistinguishable from any natural star in the universe.
