When the stars go out, where will we go, in the seconds of darkness before the world collapses? Will you stay with me in that silent chaos? As a reminder of the time we had...

Summary

In Strionan culture, it is believed that the world will end when their Star leave the solar system. They believe that if their star, Orion, ever chooses to leave its physical body, the lack of its presence will cause a metaphorical darkness to come over their planet. In some ways, this could potentially lead to the death of the planet itself, as sometimes when a natural star loses the Star that inhabits it, it also dies.

The Terrifying Darkness

A few years after the Strions had settled on their planet, a great darkness came out of nowhere. Chaos reigned, and they believed that their star must have died. The newly developed cities faced great destruction, as their inhabitants descended into frenzied madness caused by their belief that the world was ending.   From this experience was born this myth, that the world would end in darkness, chaos and shadow. Since the myth's beginning, it has featured heavily in Strionan media, including written work and video.

Variations

Due to Strionian culture being spread across a planet, different cities and groups will tend to have a unique telling of this myth. These range from minor differences in details, to some people even suggesting that the death of Orion would cause the universe to cave in on itself! Some fully believe these myths and prophecies to be true, while others believe them to only be a story told to scare young Strions.
