Starspun (Working Title)
My world is a fantasy world that takes place roughly in its renaissance period. Over a 1000 years ago, a cataclysmic event destroyed most of the ambient magic along the coast and replaced it with regular monster raids. Civilization has recovered since and innovated new fields of alchemy and magic to make up to for the magic lost back then.
Starspun takes place in the Midlands which lie outside the eastern safe zone, as an adventurer attempts to make their fortune by running a town by a new dungeon they just discovered. The game-play is combination of a farming sim, town building mechanics, and RPG turn-based combat.
Design
The art direction for the game is probably fairly simplistic. Not quite low-poly, but outside of textures, the game won't be much more detailed than that. Since I have low experience, I don't want to over-reach, haha. Thus, the art will need to match; if you look at the main character concept art below, the detail is about on par for what I'm thinking. Other than that, I was thinking colorful? Watercolor esque, sort of like Breath of the Wild.Gameplay Loop
Grow
Grow crops in your homestead, and cook them into delicious meals for you and your fellow villagers!
Build
Build your village up from the very foundation, and attract new villagers and adventurers to your home!
Fight
Explore the neighboring dungeon and discover new resources to use and sell!
Now, this is only the bare-bones, back-of-the-box explanation of the game-play. Each of these parts of the game-play have their own complexities and game-play loops to be explored.
Out of the three, Grow is the smallest. The above explanation essentially explains it all as I don't want farming to take over the game; the town and dungeon are to be the main focus. However, I want the player's home to be something they grow attached to, and take care of. A farm is a (hopefully) simple way to do that.
