Order of Love
Core Beliefs
The Order of Love is a monotheistic organization that reveres and follows the teachings of Rumpus, the God of Love. Over the years, the Magnus Dominus have created numerous texts, codifying six key tenets passed down by Rumpus:- All people should share intimacy, love, and peace with one another. (First Tome of Phil Achio)
- Passion for love and beauty in all forms should be embraced. (Second Tome of Phil Achio)
- Life should be valued above material possessions or worldly goods. (Tome of Faith Fuqor)
- Freedom of choice and individual willpower should be treasured. (First Tome of Romeo Valentinus I)
- Protection should be provided to those who cannot defend themselves. (Second Tome of Romeo Valentinus I)
- The Order should be preserved so that it can continue spreading its message. (Second Tome of Faith Fuqor)
Rumpus, Defender of Love
Rumpus is a deity who embodies love and peace but prioritizes results over methods. Characterized as both a being of Fae and Celestial origins, few within the Order can confirm or refute this. Rumpus holds power in the domains of peace, love, and light.Origin
Founded by the first Magnus Dominus, Lord Phil Achio, at the behest of a celestial being known only as Rumpus, this order emerged from the ranks of free love. Lord Phil Achio was chosen to establish the Clergy and to spread the word of Rumpus. The initial years of the Order were spent in Urlak Thonis, fostering strong friendships with the Al Qamar Atfal. These years left an indelible mark on both the Order, Rumpus, and the Children of Noor, as they shared common values and magical arts. Unfortunately, it became evident that the Order had to break away and sequester itself to maintain neutrality and spread Love and Peace impartially among all nations. Dominus Romeo Valentine established Castrum Valentinus in the foothills of the Zephyr Highlands as a bastion away from civilization. The Order relocated successfully to the Castrum shortly before the events leading up to the entanglement of Divine forces known as the Scourge War.Hierarchy
The Order's principal members consist primarily of Clerics, Warlocks, and Paladins, each receiving a ranking according to their merit, service, and dedication to the order.- Magnus Dominus - At the pinnacle of the Order's leadership, the Magnus Dominus, currently Luck Deesius, guides the Order in spreading Rumpus' teachings.
- Dominus - Acknowledged by Rumpus and chosen for Divine Purpose, Dominus members have unique roles that do not neatly fit into the Order's hierarchy. Roles such as the General of Rumpus' Armies (when invoked) or Master of the Training Institute are held by Dominus. On rare occasions, members can be "Erected" to the rank of Dominus from lower titles, though this is a rare occurrence, happening fewer than a dozen times in history.
- Exaltatus - These experienced members possess extensive knowledge of the world and have surpassed their peers in skill and art. Members achieving this rank are often selected to be elevated to Dominus.
- Agnitus - Seasoned members, known as Knights of Honor, Knowledge, and Physical Prowess, are often sent as diplomats, ambassadors, or even warriors on behalf of Rumpus.
- Novus - The newest and youngest Clerics, these members must prove themselves by completing a pilgrimage and a task of great prominence. These tasks vary widely, from good deeds with significant impact to divine quests.
- Aspirans, Agnitus - As students first and foremost, these aspirants are assigned a master and mentor of Cleric Exaltus rank, serving under them for years. During this time, they learn lore, spirituality, techniques, and arts belonging to the Order. Only those who show great promise can be "Erected" to Novus Status.
- Aspirans, Virginalis - Selected but untested, these aspirants must undergo trials of body, mind, and soul before being considered true members of the Order of Love.
Holy Texts and Rituals
- The Tenets of Faith and Free Love, collections created by the Dominus, are the primary tools used to teach the Order's beliefs.
- The Codex of Pleasure provides instruction on the Arts of Love.
- The Matrix of Dominus is a sacred collection honoring those who achieve the rank of Dominus.
- Any expression of love and affection is considered holy in the eyes of Rumpus and the Order, and these acts should never be suppressed when expressed in good faith.
Symbols and Icons
The traditional Symbol of Rumpus is the astral image of a silver bull set against a lavender backdrop. Holy Symbols used by members are unique to each individual, symbolizing their embodiment of love. These symbols are often designed for combat use, should the need ever arise. Many members choose to create grand phallic holy symbols.Relations with Other Religions
The Order shares a historical origin with the Children of Noor. Although they have grown apart over time, the leaders of both organizations maintain contact and harbor no major grievances. In stark contrast, the Order of Love is in perpetual conflict with the Dark Pantheon, opposing them in both principle and practice.
Tenets of Faith
The Order of Vigor currently holds six tenets themed in books written by prior Clerics. The Magnus Dominus selects works that amplify or enhance the order's philosophy.
