Corvicor

"It is the artery of trade from the south and supplies the north with the future"   Jessica Holden, senior of House Holden of the River Kingdom

Demographics

The local population is human, however as one of the largest trading hubs in the world many other races have filtered into its community. Elves, Gnomes, and Halfings are almost as commonplace as humans within the city. With the other races being prevalent but just a bit less common of a sight. Exclusively missing from this mixed population are, naturally, the violent Orcs and seclusive Dragonborn.

Government

Corvicor is the not only a bustling trade city but the capital of the Vudra Trade Empire itself. Like all of the major cities in Vudra, the commercial sector is tied directly into the government sector. Each commercial business located in the city works for the city itself and reports to their respective higher ups. If you own a warehouse you report to the Trade Master, if you sell goods you report to the Goods Master, if you supply a service you report the Service Master, ect. These Masters control the all regulations and licenses to operate businesses that fall into their category. They are also responsible on making sure businesses remain viable and pay their fees to the city.   All of these Masters themselves report to the City Master who is in charge of keeping the city operating and making sure the other business Masters don't overstep their bounds. The City Master has final say on all rulings and holds the power to reverse decisions. However he cannot make new laws regarding other sectors of business.

Defences

There is little in terms of defensive structures in the city. There are maintained wooden walls sectioning of the city from the forest itself but of course this is located only around the land portion of the city. While the floating platforms are elevated, the edges of are only about 7ft from the waters surface. The city does maintain a constant force of guards and, unlike most other cities, investigators to keep order in the city. Located here is also the headquarters for V.A.D.F (Vudra Air Defense Force). An almost military like organization which patrols and protects the skies above and around Vudra. The maintain order in the skies and to defend against the few pirates who have procured airships.

Infrastructure

The city proper is situated on the shore of Lake Kordla within the Vudric Forest. Corvicor was birthplace the first Arcane Airship. In order to build them with their rings that encircle and provide them lift and thrust, either a tall structure off the ground or a body of water was needed. On the lake large platforms were built for ease of their construction. Today many of these floating platforms are home to shipyards. However much of the cities expansion has taken place utilizing these platforms as well. All of these platforms are attached to each other via bridges and cables, but all of them are attached to a central road to the shore. As no carts or wagons are allowed onto the platforms, the central road is built on supports down into the lake to allow fast travel to take place.   While freshwater wasn't a problem for the city, its sewage was. After a plague that ran through the city early into its lake expansion, inventors from the Cogsworth Club were contracted to install a sewage system. Pipes now run between the platforms and the central road back to shore where the sewage is deposited into an underground cesspool miles from the city and lake.   The city still maintains docks along the lakeside for shipping to smaller towns down the river. However the majority of the trade happens on the lake on the airship docking platforms.

Guilds and Factions

Guilds and Business

While every business located within the city technically is employed by the city, there are a few organizations who aren't centrally located in the city. Those guilds and business have been granted permissions to operate within the city limits without having to pay a cut to the local government. They still must respect the rules and regulations made by the Masters.

Cogsworth Club

The Club is an organization which supports local inventors and arcane craftsman. While they are a boon to the city, their experimentation is cause of concern to some. So they have been given their own smaller and isolated lake platform in case of explosions or any other type of danger they may create. The Cogsworth Club is also technically one of the ruling bodies of the Gnomelands, so a small embassy has been attached to the main building.

River Trade Union

The RTU is a large trading company which monopolizes the northern trade routes. They maintain large warehouses and their own private docks in order to ship goods directly north into their established trade lines.

Kelsh Embassy

The Kelsh Empire maintains a stable and well guarded embassy within the city. As a requirement for it to even be established, they demanded their own private platform for security reasons. Because of this it remains one of the most well defended parts of the city even though it technically is foreign soil. They are one of the few places exempt from the cities rules as well.

Valash Focusing Gardens

Upon request by the elven population, the city allowed the building of a garden using trees from the Valash. The actual building is completely made from sculpted trees. They for the walls, floor, and their canopy make up the roof.

World Temple

Like in most cities there is a temple with a wing dedicated to each of the gods and maintained by the Brotherhood of Faith. Unlike the other guilds and business they are exempt from the cities rules just like the embassies.
