Observations by a Traveler

"In these tomes will I scribe all that I shall discover. Charting courses, finding culture, and exploring the unknown. To those who find these journals, I implore you to make them your own and inscribe your own discoveries within
  • J. Waylan."
  • -Foreword of the book

    Purpose

The Observations of a Traveler is a condensed version of a collection of journals found in the wreckage of a ship. The original journals featured details and descriptions of creatures, inventions, locations, and cultures from all across the world. So vast was the collection of knowledge contained within that its condensed form became a popular read for those who do not travel much. It has also found a place of prominence within adventurers circles. Functioning as a sort of guide book for those just getting out in the world. As a sign of remembrance to whoever wrote the collection in the first place, the Reauthors of Hanniquit always leave many blank pages in the back of the book for those wishing to write about their own discoverers.

    Document Structure

    Clauses

Each section of the book is separated by continent and subsequently by animals, sights, people, and legends. Though sometimes subjects are so intermixed they are included in multiple sections. Such as a landmark which has a popular myth surrounding it would appear in both the legends and sights sections.

    References

The J. Waylan journals are the source for the knowledge contained within the book.

    Publication Status

The book is widely available, though the further you travel from trade centers the more likely you will find yourself a used book with someone else's notes within.

    Historical Details

    History

The origin of the original journals the book was inspired by is unknown. Most believe the author was some adventurer or bard. The shipwreck the journals were found in had no discernible markings or surviving documents so its origin is unknown as well. The journal's last entries detail the author preparing to embark on a journey over the Silent Ocean in the deep south.
