Verti'Go-Ra

Verti 'Go-Ra

Verti, from his real name Verti'Go-Ra, was once a Kharis explorer, more precisely a Traveler. Thanks to him we discovered many creatures, planets and of course, Melenis artifacts, his last exploration was on Sancta, few hundred years before its famous war. He was with 3 of his friends: Arn'Aloï, Ki'Lim, Zirak'Alador.   They were sent for an exploration of a suspect place, in the north pole of Sancta, where his inhabitants are humanoids with a mix of fur and feathers, very blue, for a few it's like sapphire, other very shiny teal and that's all along their body, this race is called Anuraki because... they just called themselves like this. He was called by other people working here and seeing what this race is capable of, and they found out a strange and huge ice formation, which was emitting massive amount of Psionic energy. One month after the first visit, this massive kind of iceberg broke everything around it, of about. Giant rocks and ice blocks were laying apart a part of this huge icy island, and was too strange to be only a random iceberg.

The Debacle

They went few days later to the place where this weird iceberg was, at this moment, they seen the island kind of cut in 2, the iceberg between them like victorious. Their transport landed somewhere nearby and begun to investigate. Problem, the iceberg was too far to walk only, so they call for help and got a Kharis transport made for extraction, they used it to pull the iceberg not too fast and too strong, to let the ice support the impact. After half an hour of manipulation and fear. The iceberg was almost tickling the main island. They decided to forage it, and try to cut in many parts so that it could not rip the island again.
East Sancta North Pole
And this is the moment it get worse. After finishing the basic objectives, they got another problem, the island was still linked within the water... They couldn't stop this so they decided to use the main extractor laser, to cut within the water. After two strikes, it's seem that is was cut, but one thing intrigued Verti, something was within the iceberg, and after folding his eyes, he saw two things, one object and one kind of armor.   The only way to get this and analyse it was to use the extractor again and pull in vertical this time, the problem here is surely that the iceberg is really really tough, and the extractor could not support that weight. So they decided to pierce the ice around and only extract what's remains. After few minutes only the kind of armor and the object was in the water, the current was very peaceful and the remaining part did not move that much. The extractor pulled up what remained. They looked at it, and uses they're little mining objects to pierce onto the object. After 2-3 minutes they reached the center.   But something....something around them was like breathing, a very deep breath. Relating to them, the armor could not do this, none of them could do this, except Melenis Guardians, but it was a different armor than known ones. They landed to the mysterious things, and discovered that the other object was a Melenis artefact, the purpose still unknown and begun to report, while the armor was raising from the ground and almost hovering. Its breath was literally like aspiring the air nearby and had a frost aura so cold that they were shivering. Verti ask for help about this armor, and the report was almost ready to sent. The armor looked at them, her shiny teal/white eyes looking at Verti with a fearing watch. One second later, he heard sounds of pain, he turned around and see everyone impaled by ice, the pilot fell by something else. The extractor just fell pushing Verti far from him, after straightening up he turned back again and was ready to fight, with Psi or with his hands. he stepped back for around 10 steps, and the two were watching each other. The armor wanted to fight in melee with his kinda of mace, but was kinda stopped. Verti though that the object was linked to the armor saying that he stay near for his protection. After a little fight it's seems that the armor was in slumber. The object begun to make some light.   The object was making light, shaking the ground around them, the ice was cracking above his foot, the object was floating and created a kind of white aura around it. He approached and try to take the object but the aura just pierce his hand and bypass his skin, only letting blood getting out, his hand was also getting colder and colder, and was blue, a dark blue, and his hand was not responding and got only one hand remaining, he couldn't deactivate the object so he tried to throw him far, he got the extractor at his disposal, he tried with his Psi to straight up the extractor, while he tries the object destroy a part of the island nearby him, the ice cracking just 2 meters at his left, cutting more and more the island. Then he stepped and tryed to throw the object with the kind of long thing which was made to pull object, he tried to invert that process... It was broken.   Verti fell on his frail knees, paralyzed by the terror, the murderess aura around these things.. Die without achieving anything in his life, without any true honor, being a weak. He thought about his report, he got a bright, shining illumination.. even if he would die, it would be a death in honor.. He remembered that he can still send it. No, not immediately, he will wait more, more.. Even more.. No. Too late, he started to launch the sending of the collected and written data through his tablet-gauntlet to the nearest Manticore. He fell weird. Fear obviously, but additionally happy, to die with honor..   A last smile for this world. He sent with the report, a picture of himself, with a weak, smile, an ice shard in his right cheek. He got thrown up on several dozens meters high by a cyclone of sharp ice and frozen water. Frost was a secondary threat now, this armor.. This.. Ball, looking like an incandescent sun in a cold ocean of ice and shadows.. What are they ?.. Weapons ? That's weird.. Why an artifact would wander, attack, destroy around it ?..   He fell down. On a spike of around 15 meters height. What a sadistic object. Verti got impaled on his left lung, progressively, slowly, painfully, because of his hard equipment of biologist and geology.. It hurts, it's cold. Verti's respiration is heavily disorderly, due to his impaled lung. He's losing conscience, the death approach.. Perhaps the Death cult of the Grimmz could have been a solution when it was possible ? No. The spike is lowering down, while growing into Verti'Go-Ra's body, like a parasite. The report has been sent, with all the horrible noises and cracks of the Verti's bones and flesh.

After-life

Verti'Go-Ra's death, as well to others dead people secondarily, has been recognized to be the proof that Melenis artifacts are not only tools at our disposition. The zone around this artifact has been called the "Verti Drown Iceland" by the Kharises quickly after the report analysis. No body has been retrieved in the ice. From the report, Kharises were able to partially take back a corrupted picture, took 43 seconds before Verti'Go-Ra's death.

Very detailed article with a haunting way for this Verti to die and a lot of interesting consequences for your world. I can see that you want to write very elaborate and you go into detail about the circumstances and emotions which is very good and a challenge for any non-native speaker I can fully relate to. However maybe get someone to read over your texts, since it was sometimes very hard to decipher what you want to say. Your creativity does not deserve to be hindered by this.
