Steel Sky

Got a planet to take over? Want to crush it in a flash, obliterating its defenses? Don't care about the reputation loss, solely the monetary gains? Sounds like you should hire Steel Sky, brutal mercenaries incorporated! Just ignore the body count, make sure you can rebuild the infrastructure they destroy, and also maybe pay them their additional non-compete fee so they're not sent after you in return.   Founded in 2738 CE, Steel Sky is a mercenary corp known for their shock&awe tactics. They specialize in planetary takeovers, coming in hard and fast with massive bombardments before they put their boots on the ground. The downside of hiring them is that this brute force approach means defenses must be fully rebuilt by the new owners, but it does mean you don't get stuck in a lengthy war. Of course this efficiency comes at a significant price tag.   But it's not their brute force that earned Steel Sky their infamy, but their brutality. If an enemy soldier doesn't immediately surrender, they won't get a second chance. If one of their own goes down, the guilty party will be publicly executed in manners that most jurisdictions still consider warcrimes. And when facing guerrilla strikes, they will go complete scorched earth in retaliation.   On the other hand, Steel Sky won't harm civilians that don't resist. If any of their own is caught committing a crime against surrendered civilians, they're executed themself. As far as Steel Sky is concerned, civilians are part of the merchandise that their employers are paying for. Said civilians tend to be smart enough to recognise this and stay out of trouble.

Military Strength

Steel Sky has split its troops into eight Brigades, with an average of nearly six thousand troops per brigade. At any time one brigade guards their home system, two brigades are training, the rest is on-call or deployed.   The company has a significant starship fleet. They own two Leviathan class ships, one of which permanently guards their home system. During large operations, the other will escort their invading fleet as far as it can.   Additionally, brigades have one Roc, six Valkyrie class, and eight Mule class ships each. During a large scale operation, the Valkyries will drop off the troops first. Then, half remains in orbit while the other half will escort the Mules from and to the Roc, which is the main resupply point. In extra-large battles, up to three brigades can be deployed at the same time. More than that is too big for the company to be willing to handle.

Civic Strength

For every soldier, Steel Sky has more than four supporting civilian employees. Their logistics chain includes their own production of food, fuel, ammo, and more. They only lack a large Shipyard.   Steel Sky doesn't want to suffer from boycots, which is why they try to produce everything they need. Meanwhile, these excellent preparations are why nobody has dared push for a boycot. No point in painting a target on your back if the killer will only be barely inconvenienced.   For their civilian employees, Steel Sky is a pleasant corp to work for. All you have to worry about is not coming across as a spy. As long as you don't have any critical information, you're even free to leave the company after your contract's up. As for critical positions, those are offered lucrative lifetime contracts. Sure, it's a deal with the devil, but the devil pays well.
