Fey Dragon
Fey Dragons are exceptionally rare, and should not be confused with Faerie Dragons. A Fey Dragon is a Dragon that was born in the First World, also known as the Feywilds.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Fey Dragons share the same basic anatomy of regular Dragons, with the exception of their scales and wings. Rather than a singular color or metallic sheen, Fey Dragon scales are iridescent, shimmering with a multitude of colors. Their wings resemble those of a butterfly, being colorful and delicate, with up to three large pairs stretching down their backs, several more smaller pairs emerging from their shoulders. They also often have a crown of light hovering above their heads which grows more complex the more powerful the Fey Dragon's magics.
Being creatures of the powerful emotional energies of the First World, they are acutely attuned to the wild and chaotic magics. This manifests in their breath weapon, which instead of causing damage, results in powerful surges of random magic for those caught within its range.
Genetics and Reproduction
How they come to be is a mystery; other Fey could have stolen a Dragon's egg, bringing it to the Feywilds, or a Dragon could have purposefully left their egg in the Feywilds. There are numerous theories on their origins, though none have managed to provide solid proof of their claims.
Growth Rate & Stages
They follow the exact same growth rates and stages as a regular dragon, starting as a Wyrmling, becoming a Young Dragon, then an Adult Dragon, and finally an Ancient Dragon.
Ecology and Habitats
They reside within the First World, also often called the Feywilds, where they claim a swathe of land as their territory, filling it with mostly harmless traps and pranks meant to confuse and torment any who enter. They also cast a powerful misdirection spell over the area, though not to keep others out, but rather to make it impossible for them to leave, instead drawing them in closer and closer to the Fey Dragon's Lair at the center of its territory.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Fey Dragons do not seem to need to eat, rather they are capable of sustaining themselves purely by the ambient magics of the Feywilds.
Behaviour
Fey Dragons do not create a physical horde, nor do they covet wealth of any kind. Instead, they use their perfect memory to collect experiences, usually those of pranks or games with others, regardless of whether those others are willing or not.
They are indifferent to the feelings of others as they are focused on their own joy. They tend to avoid killing, especially those that they are "playing" with, as this tends to sour the mood and make the activity less fun for them.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Fey Dragons have the power of True Seeing, being able to see through any and all illusions and transmutations without issue. They are also able to sense the emotional state of any living creature within their Lair or their immediate area.
