Jackalopes

Jackalopes are an extremely abundant creature in the world of Strathnora.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Appearing like a normal rabbit, except with horns or antlers.

Genetics and Reproduction

Jackalopes breed extremely quickly, as they are in breeding season for the entire year, and have a gestation period of only a few months.

Growth Rate & Stages

Jackalopes are fully grown and ready to breed after only three months of life, growing quickly into their adult forms.

Ecology and Habitats

Jackalopes have been able to spread across most of Strathnora thanks to their ability to adapt. As such, there are numerous sub-species of Jackalope, from the Mountain Jackalope, to the Arctic Jackalope, to the Savanna Jackalope. If it is possible to survive somewhere, there is almost certainly a form of Jackalope.   One common factor between all Jackalopes, is the fact that they create burrows in which to nest and sleep. These burrows can take on numerous different forms depending on the type of Jackalope, either large and open for those with long or wide antlers, or small and tight for those with slender or short horns.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Jackalopes can and will eat almost anything. From plant matter to meat, they are capable and willing to devour any source of food.

Behaviour

Jackalope behavior depends largely on the type of Jackalope. For example, a Savanna Jackalope is more likely to flee at high speed from an approaching creature, while a Mountain Jackalope will almost certainly take it as a challenge and attempt to butt the offender out of its territory.
