Kymil Naevaris

Kymil Naevaris is a wood elf. Before coming to Strixhaven, he lived in a growing elven settlement in the High Forest of Faerun. The High Forest is home to many lost ruins and mysteries, which has interested Kymil since he was a small child. He finds history fascinating and wants to help in preserving his and others' cultures, as well as uncover any mysteries. His parents run a small apothecary business and had high expectations that he'd take over the business when he was old enough. However, they didn't expect for him to apply to Strixhaven. They tried to dissuade him from going, as they considered the school to only be for "serious" magic users-- reinforcing Kymil's insecurity of not having a strong grasp on magic. Despite their pleas to stay home and get into the herbalist business, he's decided to attend Strixhaven so he could see more of the world and try and figure out what he wants to do with his life.
Naevaris Apothecary is ran by Kymil's parents. Kymil's mother is an herbalist and his father is a retired grassland druid. Kymil has an older sister named Aaverie, who is an attendant at the local Mielikki shrine. As the second oldest, Kymil was regarded as the "heir" of the family business. They prepared him for this by teaching him herbal remedies and having him help around the shop, but they couldn't stop Kymil from dawdling, whether his head was stuck in a stack of books or poking at things he shouldn't.
Upon arriving at Strixhaven, they felt like a fish out of water. The open campus with its many environments, large library, and technology was already much more than he had known living in the High Forest. Kymil was able to adjust to the changes, thanks to Rennaan, Trara, Bluebell, and the various friends he's made on campus. He has had difficulty opening up to people and feeling the need to impress others in order to improve himself, the latter of which is something he continues to struggle with as classes go on. He worries about not being good enough to attend Strixhaven or making any progress. His friends see the kindness underneath his (slowly softening) exterior and the protectiveness he exhibits towards people he cares about.
Kymil has a love for history and literature (including a secret passion for poetry and mystery books), which makes him a good prospective student for @lore. He and Trara are both members of the Dead Languages Club, and works with Rennaan and Drazhomir Yarnask in the Biblioplex. Kymil met Drazhomir during orientation for an icebreaker, and the two bonded over shared interests in books and poetry. Kymil was awestruck by Drazhomir's gentle and courteous nature, and how he didn't feel the need to dumb down his interests around him. A crush was inevitable.
