Young, but far from vulnerable.
When it hatches, a black dragon has glossy black scale. As it ages, its scales become thicker and duller, helping it blend in to the marshes and blasted ruins that are its home.
Black Dragon Wyrmling's practice their hunting around the edges of their parent's territory. They hunt by themselves, and are rarely seen in the presence of another dragon, yet do not be decieved; until they grow into Young Black Dragons wyrmlings are never out of sight of their parents. Taught the ways of cruelty, isolation, and hate from the time they hatch wyrmlings forced to fend for themselves and fight to survive but also constantly observed and tested by their guardians.
Adult Black Dragons do not rear children lightly, so when two make the decision to rear young, they do so with intent and pride. Both parents competing to foster a singular, cruel and powerful, heir to a legacy of hate.
