Danse Dunes
The Danse Dunes is a coastal region of sand dunes on Nickwick Neck, home to seabirds, turtles, and dune brush, whose positions shift with wind and tide. On narrow portions of the peninsula, the dunes fully encompass the land between ocean to the west and bay to the east, making the region like a desert and travel difficult, unless following the Caivhway, which at places looks like a wooden boardwalk above the shifting dunes.
It is not technically a desert since the region receives normal amounts of precipation relative to the rest of Caivh Hwell and Orcli.
Geography
Sand dunes, which can shift with the winds and can range from small mounds to large hills. Brush and grasses can grow, and ponds can even form, in certain sections of the dunes.
Ecosystem
The region is fueled by turtles, who lay their eggs in the sands, which attract predators such as sand foxes, lizards, crustaceans, and seabirds.
Fauna & Flora
Dry shrubs, sea grasses, palm plants, some cacti like prickly pears, turtles, crabs, sand foxes, seabirds
Natural Resources
Prickly pear cacti, turtle eggs, turtle shells, sand
History
The Caivhway was built to traverse the region, which would have otherwise been difficult to traverse due to the soft sand, moderate wind, and shifting dunes which can make camping treacherous. As the highway has connected Nickwick with Cottagetown and the rest of Caivh Hwell, Caivh has become more united and communicative with its regions, which would have otherwise had little to no contact.
Tourism
The dunes are praised by their natural beauty, as are the beaches along Nickwick Neck and around the city of Nickwick. To merchants and travelers, however, the region is seen more like a difficult desert.
