Kyrrst
Geography
Kyrrst is Subetia's second-largest continent and land mass, although it contains no permanent settlements due to its cold temperatures. Kyrrst is largely mountainous, with the range extending to nearly all parts of the continent, centering in the middle, which contains the tallest of the mountains.
Kyrrst is divided into eight regions, which contain different features, although all or nearly all are characterized by cold temperatures, high winds, and mountainous terrain.
- Orcstad: from Old Common "Orc Homestead," this windswept, southernmost region is relatively lower altitude - a relatively flat highland of stone, lichen, and shrubs, where the Orcs used to live in temporary camps.
- Kjokjye: from Subetian "aurora," this eastern region is characterized by its pair of dramatic mountains and the river that runs from the two. This enchanting area is known for its legendary beauty and aurora.
- Hosekh Sgurr: from Subetian "gemstone," this central region is home to Kyrrst's highest mountains, containing the most impressive mountain views. Its mountains are prized for their gemstones, although past attempts at establishing legitimate mining operations have failed.
- Fyjorgge: from Subetian, "glacier," Fyjorgge is also the name of the glacier that dominates the landscape west of Hosekh Sgurr and has carved the impressive fjord.
- Tozn: north of Fyjorgge is the tundra of Tozn, a vast landscape of snow in the winter and colorful shrubs and moss in the warmer months, when the region becomes a soggy wetland.
- Etchoprikhe: from Kyrsstic "puffin," Etchoprikhe is the northwestern region of Kyrrst, known for its colony of puffins, which have been hunted in the past. Etchoprikhe's mountains rise from the coast and tundra, and the snowmelt creates an impressive river.
- Eper Sgurr: from Kyrsstic "north," Eper Sgurr is the northernmost region, complete with its own portion of the mountain range (Kyrrst's second-highest) that forms the spine of this harsh region, along with several rivers that flow off it.
- Num Hwell: from Kyrsstic "haven," Num is a long island located behind the mountains, shielding the hwell from the harsh winds from the south of Kyrrst. Past settlements were established, but the difficulty to access the hwell, along with difficulty to access the resource-rich regions of Kyrrst, caused the settlements to become abandoned.
History
In the past, Kyrrst had been temporarily inhabited by dwarves and humans, to little success long-term. The orcs were driven out of Svetli and forced to live on Orcstad, where they lived for hundreds of years, periodically raiding Svetli for resources and attempts of resettling. Since invading and conquering Orcli, Kyrrst was unpopulated.
Tourism
