Meidri Family
The Meidri Family is an extended family and syndicate headquartered at Meidri Manor in southwestern Tatsch Hwell, including its vampire family members with some human and vampire servants.
Today, the Family is ultimately ruled by the patriarch, Dagoslav Meidri, known as "Great-Grandfather Dago." However, since he is asleep in his crypt most of the time, the Family is effectively ruled by the Count of the Manor, Dmitrij Meidri with his wife, the Count Mistress Reveneca Lence. The Family is in favor of the Orcish Monarchy but also supports clandestine trade and crime operations of the Faerie Runners, Walrusians, and Ritzkya. The Family has about 200 members, to include 75 blood relative decendents of the Great-Grandfather Dago.
Originally, the family started out as a simple, peasant, agrarian family living near Stilton on Tockotch Hwell. In the swamps of the Mysnawa Nwm, while out foraging for potion materials, Dagoslav stumbled upon the source of the vampiric magic which began to infect his veins. After returning to his family, around the hearth that night, the vampirism spread and infected his family. Within days, their skin had whitened and their appetite for blood became vorocious. Fearing their appearance and behavior, the locals cast out Dagoslav and his family. In the Mysnawa Nwm, they barely survived off the harsh land. They fled to Vagalou, crossing the Mycazick Channel, but were not well-received. However, a local Djurian warlock recognized the symptoms, and provided advice and animal blood, which helped appease their appetite. Eventually, the family found work from the man, for whom they worked until earning enough to pay for ferry across to the more-fertile Tatsch Hwell. They established residence on a small peninsula, and were able to fend off Wyvern attacks and the curiousity of onlookers. Over the years, they built the commune and were able to hire additional staff from nearby Straughten and even the capital of Wynmollen. Eventually, thanks to their sharing of immortality which proved to be a lucrative gift, they amassed their wealth and built what is now the establishment of the Meidri Manor, an impressive and luxuriant structure in its own right.
After generations of longstanding savvy, the Family is well-connected to several powerful and influential organizations, from the Orcish Monarchy to the Faerie Runners, Ritzkya, and Walrusians.
Structure
Familial structure - Dagoslav and his wife Prettij had five children: 1.) Fens, 2.) Zendrina, 3.) Crettij, 4.) Tattij, and 5.) Pendrans.
1.) Fens and his wife Zina have two daughters, Hilk and Phannij
2.) Zendrina and her husband Yetar have a son, Dmitrij, and a daughter, Grinca
3.) Crettij has not married but is an influential uncle to Dmitrij and his cousins
4.) Tattij has not married but lives her life in a somewhat sickly state
5.) Pendrans and his wife Bensaria have four sons and two twin daughters: Moj, Lijko, Vaga, Dmoskvens, Dranca, and Rom
Most of the 10 cousins have taken human spouses and live at the manor. On average, each couple has 3 children, making a total of around 75 Meidri family members. The remaining 125 members are drafted in as servants, bestowed the vampiric "gift" but do not typically marry or reproduce, although there are some exceptions.
Culture
Hierarchical, familial, ultimately cooperative and unified but more competitive, divisive on a smaller scale - plenty of jealousy and power struggles, but no challenges to the rule of the family, as most are too selfish to desire that responsibility of others
