Union of Miners and Masons

A city like Styx needs immesurable amounts of stone to satisfy its need for growth; the Union of Miners and Masons fulfills that need.
A minor union in both size and power the Union of Miners and Masons (UMM) is nonetheless important within the economy of Styx, without its workers not a single new living quarter or manufactury would be built and the spires of the city's towers would surely not have been built if it wasn't for the brave folk quarrying for stone at the city's northern border close to the Kingdom of Darklight.

Aside from stone for construction the miners also dig for the raw materials in the form of ores that are used to produce countless goods for export and use within the manufacturies of the city and without that too the city could not function.

Due to their proud history of mining, similarly to the Union of Finesmiths, Smiths and Metalworkers, many Dwarves call this union home; their short stature and excellent stamina makes Dwarves great miners.
Aside from Dwarven workers the UMM also employs sapient undead to mine the most dangerous of mine shafts; if a miner's canary signals the foreman that toxic gas is found within a shaft the undead swoop in to harvest ores impervious to the deadly poison in the air before closing off the shaft.
The UMM has recently entered a coalition with the Union of Constructionworkers and Builders in the Minor House.
