A Tale of People and Portals, Alnea

  • This prophecy is also the oldest known piece of writing, dating back nearly two thousand years.
  • While it is true that Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism have been banned in the past, offshoots and copies are still practiced today, with The Church of the Returning God being one of the most popular religions in certain nations.

A tale of people and portals

People and Portals, a wonderful, horrible, beautiful thing. Long ago, in a place not dissimilar to ours, our ancestors lived without any magic. Their communities were small and undeveloped, and they were sad, starving, and dwindling. They desperately desired something more, something magical. All the village chieftains, kings, queens, tribal leaders, and other people of importance and stature prayed to their gods for a place to satisfy their desires, promising to remain faithful to them forever.
The Gods, in their infinite kindness and love for their ‘children,’ generously granted their request, for if their creation desired a new home, why should they not give them one? In all the kingdoms, forests, and villages, magic was created and molded into a gateway to a new world, our world. However, soon after humanity entered their new home, they betrayed their gods, banning Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and countless others outright. Outraged, the old Gods decided to punish their creations for their abandonment of their creators. Instead of purging them from their new home, they decided to offer them a prophecy. They will give these humans two thousand years to prepare for the upcoming apocalypse, and when their time is up, they will surely fall.
When the old gods return, they’ll have to face off against the new deities who took their rightful place as rulers, for they have taught us how to use the arts and to become great and powerful magicians, the old Gods do not stand a chance.
