Transnational Trading Company, Alnea

  • The Transnational Trading Company (TTC) was founded in 1556 by Charles Langden Morris, a lesser-known but wealthy Nobleman in Verifa, the capital city of Risat.
  • This business is responsible for maintaining, operating, and servicing many of the main roads throughout the entire continent, one of the few trade guilds that are allowed to travel freely between all nations without the lengthy approvals required to do so.
  • Like many other companies in Risat, ownership is passed down from generation to generation, which is how Nathaniel Morris runs and operates the guild, over 400 years after its beginnings in the same city.
  • Certainly the oldest company in Alnea, older than some nations, the TTC is also one of the wealthiest, most successful, powerful guilds on the continent. However, the TTC isn't without its own fair share of scandals, bad investments, and issues.

Scandals

  • In 1560, just 4 years after it’s inception, the motto of “Action, Adventure, Gold, Glory” had to be changed because people thought the TCC was a cult. It was changed to “For the golden glory of adventure,” which remains its motto to this day.
  • In 1605, it was accused of selling grain to other nations, which was a banned item to trade during a famine.
  • In 1608, they were caught selling armor and swords to the enemy during the Lower Class Revolt of 1607 and were fined heavily.
  • In 1710, the TCC was accused of assassinating the king of Risat due to his harsh policies on trade, but nothing ever came of it.
  • In 1839, they were caught selling grain again during a famine.

Bad Investments

 
  • 1678, A fleet of ships that were too top-heavy, all sank within 1 year of being completed. Cost: 1,000,000 gold coins
  • 1740, 500 new carts that were twice as wide. Could fit more items, but they were far too wide for most roads within cities. Cost: 10,000 gold coins
  • 1741, A new fleet of cargo ships, most of them were lost or damaged during the freak hyper-storm of 1741. Cost: 2,000,000 gold coins
  • 1742, hired a militia to defend a trade outpost in a notoriously dangerous land, however, the militia were actually highwaymen and criminals in disguise. Cost: ~200,000 gold coins
  • 1892, A fire broke out in a new factory, which wasn't fireproof. Cost: 40,000 gold coins.
  • 1954, A new magic-powered cargo ship exploded, killing over 1,000 people. Cost: 5,000,000 gold coins.
