Wasif Halad
The bazaar of Ka-Tepi is the occasional home of the travelling merchant Wasif Halad. He sells magic items, some weapons, and items of mundane and magical clothing, amongst other things. He is portly, with rings on his chubby fingers and an ostentatiously thick gold necklace over his pale blue robes, but a careful eye will notice that he has strong muscles underneath the fat, and still moves with the trained grace of a fighter. The sturdy rings would not be damaged by punching an assailant, and the necklace would be pulled away easily by an attacker seeking to disadvantage him.
Wasif was a caravan guard for many years. He carefully hoarded his savings until he had enough to buy a part-share on one of the caravans he was accompanying, allowing him to carry a small amount of trade goods of his own. Having watched what succeeded and did not, he proved to be both skilled and lucky in selecting trade goods that sold well at the caravan's destination. He soon made enough money to retire from life as a caravan guard and join the caravans as a merchant in his own right. However, he made sure to maintain his weapon drills despite his newfound love of small luxuries. Any who attempt to rob him receive a swift and fatal surprise.
He affects the persona of a flamboyant and extravagant salesman, proclaiming that his ever-increasing numbers of children will be beggared while haggling over a sale, that his customer is taking the food from their mouths and that he is cutting his own throat to offer such a ridiculously low price.
His items are all first-class quality, and easily worth the slightly higher than normal prices they command.
