Yuan-Ti Trade Coins
The Desert Yuan-Ti use a unique type of coinage for their trade bars. These take the form of a disc of jade elaborately carved into the shape of a coiled serpent, with its head resting in the centre of the coil. The value of the trade coins are denoted by the gem chips which serve as the eyes of the serpent: either diamond, ruby or emerald.
Although the coins are elegant works of art, they have limited value outside the yuan-ti culture and other evil-aligned peoples. For the desert people in particular, the discovery of trade coins is considered an ill omen, and those trying to use the coins are often regarded with suspicion.
