Battle of Amasia Plains 18ASF
The Conflict
Prelude
Kangaroudian Shalik, Kannan, declares independence from the Kanodite Empire taking a large portion of the imperial treasury with him (50,000 cypoi). Siamak II, still reeling from the fracturing of his empire, marshaled what remained of his army in the region. Messages were sent to his remaining Shaliks north of the mountains. Non arrived. Siamak moved his forces east, preparing to siege Amamia. When arrived, the Kangaroudians were awaiting him.
Deployment
Both forces required flat terrain to utilize their forces effectively. Two miles west of the city were plains and this is where the battle fought. Shrubbery in the south, flat land to the west, east and north. Typical formation, spearman upfront, archers behind, axeman on the flanks. Kannan went cav heavy on the left flank and weakened his right.
Outcome
Kangaroudian victory secured independence for the new empire and the routing of the last major Kanodite army in the region meant the Kangaroudians could not retaliate. The death of the Kanodite Emperor, Siamak II, ended the royal Kanod line and ended the rump state of the Kanodite Empire. The Civil War that followed bankrupt the Empire.
Aftermath
The battle marked the beginning of the Kangaroud-Dobarid wars. The Kangaroudians proclaimed themselves the true heirs of the Kanodites. They had the remains of the last Kanodite Emperor, Siamak II, buried in Kangaroud. The Kangaroud Emperor also wears the Imperial regalia of the Kanodites.
