The Star Born in the Desert
The Star Born in the Desert - Lost Epic
During the time of the first Sultan, a star was born in the middle of the desert, the star was a beauty to behold with a body of emerald. At night she bathed the desert in emerald green light. Where she happily danced along the sand her flames turned it to glass. Making a palace of obsidian glass out of the dunes.
The Sultan of the land, wanted to claim the star for his harem and offered half of his kingdom to any who could calm the flames of the star and bring it to him. As a moth to a flame men were drawn to the star, some wanting to claim it for the Sultan, others wanting it as their own. All who tried turned to ash when they stepped too close.
Then one day, came a prince of the desert tribes, a genie bottle at his side. Like those before him, he had fallen in love with the star's beauty, so sought out a genie of the lamp to help him. His first wish was simple, he wanted to be immune to the heat of the star's flames, and so he was able to approach the star.
When he finally stood in front of the star he professed his love, but found they couldn't speak with each other. So the prince brought the genie out once more and made his second wish, that the star could speak his language and understand him. He then recited 100 poems of love and beauty.
The star wanted to learn of everything of the world around her, to be able to interact with it the way the prince did and to be with the prince forever. So the prince made his third and final wish from the genie of the bottle to make it so.
The genie was jealous of the star's flames. She granted the final wish but with a twist. The genie took away the stars green flame and gave her a mortal form with emerald eyes. The genie now free of her contract with the lamp and the power of the stars green flames, cast away the mortals and took the palace as her own.
The couple had to flee into the desert for while the prince was immune to the flames the new form his love had taken was not.
All this while the Sultan's Vizier had been watching through his crystal ball. He seized upon the opportunity and took the Sultan's most loyal assassins to slay the prince and bring the star back to the Sultan.
The couple had taken shelter with a roaming clan of desert elves. As thanks for their hospitality the star danced for her love and the elves. That's when the Vizier and his assassins raided the camp. The star continued to dance enchanting each of the assassins that came for her love and the elves. The Vizier's magic protected him from her charms however and so the prince challenged him. But the Vizier's magic was too strong and the prince was turned to a statue of sand.
Heartbroken the star exploded in rage, turning everything to obsidian glass for miles. The star now alone found that the child inside her had given back the ability to use the flames once more.
The Sultan hearing of her rage and power feared he might face reprisal from the star and his people would suffer. So he rode into the desert and offered himself to the star. He asked her to spare him or kill him but not to harm the people. If she spared him then he would offer her his kingdom which she could rule as Queen.
So began the age of the Star-Born Queens, where the people saw happiness and danced. The kingdom became united and flourished under her watchful emerald eyes and the rule of the queens in her family line for 1001 years until the coming of the Dragons.
