Galt's Gold

Galt's Gold is a binary currency comprised of interchangable digital and physical components and overseen by The First Bank of Galt on Galt's Gulf. The physical half is simply metallic gold, the price of which is kept stable by The First Bank of Galt through commodity cartel practices. The digital half is blockchain-secured cryptocurrency of equivalent value, pegged to physical gold by the bank. Digital Gold is the primary currency of cyberspace and can be earned through gamified computational tasks. Physical gold is usually exchanged in the form of 1mm diameter wire, cut to length to pay various amounts. Vendors have "gold machines" that use any combination of X-ray spectroscopy, density, and electrical conductivitiy measurements to analyze and verify the purity of the gold being paid.
