It's my favorite of all the acronyms because the guy who built it didn't even try. He knew what he wanted, he found the letters in the words and that's it. And also he made an AI to go in the helmet which is pretty fantastic. He even made it snarky.
HELMET no longer exists in the actual device but has been since moved to secure an important building owned by the family of HELMET's original owner, but the actual literal helmet is found in a museum for superhero memorabilia.
E/N: Or, perhaps, it's in a secret supervillain memento warehouse because someone thought it would be funny to steal what was once the primary weapon of an intelligence-based superhero often drew comparisons to her and replace it with a copy. It didn't hurt that Ruby basically idolized the guy, regardless of the opposing morality, because he built a snarky AI. All she can manage is earnest and heartfelt.
The helmet appears to be relatively bulky, but is light and has fantastic visibility. The neck support is second to none, and the materials are durable. The interior HUD is a work of art with adaptive lighting options to avoid eye strain.
