Lake House

E/N: It's actually kind of sweet. A place that started because Ruby needed to spy on someone, and now it's one of her more cherished retreats. She even manages to keep her work away from it.
It's not sappy, it's just a vacation home. That wasn't meant to be a vacation home, but that's besides the point.

Spy Work

Despite the fact that the lake house looks like it's been there for ages, and fits in perfectly between a bunch of other similar houses, it was built basically overnight about five years ago using a rather erratic and non-traditional process that I would prefer not to repeat if possible.
It took a lot of gaslighting to convince the neighbors that the house had been under construction for a while, and then later that it had been there a lot longer than they thought. It also took a bit to alter land records so that they couldn't contest any of this.
E/N: There's this one old lady who Ruby still can't convince. This is what she gets for planting a whole house in the middle of an established and tightly knit vacation community and then making it permanent.
I needed the house, okay? I was spying on a rival and I needed the vantage point.

And Then We Stayed

It turns out that the spot where I made this house that was only supposed to even exist for like a month is actually a really nice place to rest and relax. So I stayed.
This was not a smart decision. The house was not designed to hold up all that well, and the back-end documents were not designed to exist for much longer. I had to improvise a lot of stuff, and I've basically had to rebuild the house since then, but now it's a really nice place to rest and relax.
