In this modern age, the seas are full of garbage. If only there was something that lived in the sea that liked to eat it and could actually gain nutritional value from it.
Oh, wait. There is.
One of a Kind
Unfortunately, Nom Nom is doomed to be unique because she's sterile and also I'm uncomfortably unsure of exactly how I managed to craft her DNA so hopefully nothing bad happens to her. At least I won't get the usual complaints about introducing foreign species into an ecosystem.
E/N: It's a valid concern! And she keeps doing this. We're lucky she hasn't caused a catastrophe.
Externally, Nom Nom looks like a whale, albeit species indeterminate. Internally, her digestive system is rather spectacular, if I do say so myself.
One of the features is that she has teeth and what is functionally a baleen system to consume her food. She's able to grind down the larger items, and filter smaller ones.
Her main diet is plastic, but she can also eat fish and plankton and stuff if she has to. A real omnivore.
Weirdo Migratory Patterns
Nom Nom goes where Nom Nom wants to. She tends to prefer more temperate waters and avoids the poles, but otherwise she can be found almost anywhere in the oceans of the world. She is a free spirited creature and I wish her well.
E/N: I tried so hard to get Ruby to put a tracker in Nom Nom, but she insisted that she could find a whale if she needed to. She can't. Nom Nom is a very smart, wily whale and is one of Ruby's few creations that doesn't absolutely adore her. Somehow, even so, Ruby is still Nom Nom's favorite person in that she at least tolerates Ruby's presence. We're all very lucky that Nom Nom doesn't eat people.
