Temporal Displacer
Some of the original superheroes were Tempero (could slow or speed up time for those he wished) and Horizon (concussive blasts, supposedly very powerful). If they were still around, they'd be old enough to be my great grandparents, which gives a fairly good timeline on when superpowers started making themselves known and also
These early supers had fewer rules than we did, including scientific ones in the mix. There were elements of the universe they didn't understand yet, and so they played with incredible forces with abandon. They experimented with their powers in unique ways. These two particular supers came up with something they called a Temporal Displacer.
They only ever used it once before they were trapped by it themselves, but the concept sounds interesting and I believe they were successful in their actions even if they did manage to get sucked in themselves. The device was promptly mothballed and those who did so did it in an era where losing the key actually meant something. Fewer computers means fewer records of where it could have ended up.
The device was meant to take on Blastoid, whose psionic blasts were difficult to contain in those days, let alone his molding of those blasts into temporary forms to help himself. So they activated their trap, and locked him away, and themselves with it.
My best guess is they landed themselves in a dimension similar to the Psiaic Dimension, slightly outside our normal time. Whether they survived the trip is yet to be discovered. I assume yes, because most superheroes determined enough to make something like that in the first place are stubborn enough to pull through something like that, but I am in the minority in my opinion.
The device itself is not well described, but forms some kind of box that appears empty.
