Timeshape's Heroes

I would love to call these guys useless dweebs, except that they do actually kind of occasionally help keep the timeline from folding in on itself. Apparently.   They don't totally stop time travel from happening, and they totally don't actually really stop shenanigans from going down. They're not super effective, and they tend to be too smug to be effective.   But they keep the worst people from doing horrible things to the timeline.

In Theory

Supposedly, according to them, they are an organization founded by the superhero Timescape to monitor and prevent egregious deviations from the timeline. Really, they're mostly there to prevent time travelers from causing disaster. In their words, they aim to prevent corruption of the usual timeline.   It exists in present time, and they don't do any time travelling unless it's by accident. They also are quick to point out that they're not omnicient and not able to prevent every incursion, so they focus on the big things.

Hard To Tell If They're Even Doing Anything

The difficulty of knowing if they're a bunch of silly blowhards or actual useful functionaries comes from the fact that we inherently can't know what they're actually accomplishing, since manipulation of the timeline means we don't know what changes might be made and if they're good or bad.   Since, if they succeed, they will return things to normal, it's hard to tell if they succeeded or not because we're theoretically reverting to whatever we had. If they did actually change something, or not manage to accomplish anything, the rest of us wouldn't know for sure at all.   E/N: And yet, Ruby is writing about this organization without directly contradicting their position that they are necessary to keep things going. Which means as you might guess that she has seen them in action and does know for a fact that they do at least sometimes manage to do what they say they do.
